USMNT - ‘23 and beyond (2 Viewers)

She ain't lying.
Every minute.
Every game.
No way to avoid the sexism in this question - if you could elevate any USWNT player to the MNT (and assume ‘level’ rises accordingly) who you pick/replace
I have maybe three (and none are SoSmith bizarrely), but I want to head y’all’s answers first

Girma for Ream.
Mal Swanson for Weah
Nair for Turner.

And I could interchange Swanson for Rodman. I just think Swanson is smoother with touch than Rodman.

I had Rose for Musah
And def Girma for Ream and Trin for Weah - and mostly bc of the insane amount of ground she covers. Truly end line to end line and better finishing than Tim

Remains to be seen how the squad vibes with him vice versa

IMO, We are past the point of the "coaches litmus test" being how our players "vibe" with the manager.

That is the exact reason Berhalter returned ( per reports ) - the players. Players dont run the show, managers do.

With that, there is always some give and take in managing egos, but we need a firmness that we havent had since Klinsmann. Will be interesting to see how he sets up these first few friendlies in September.

Im good with it.

I just never bought GGG getting us anywhere we havent already been. Sometimes you have to take a step back to go forward. Honestly, I think what happened in Copa was the best thing we couldve hoped for outside of winning Copa - which was never going to be a thing. The means to an end was underperforming at Copa. Which we did with flying colors.

Any word on this being a 2 or 6 year deal? My guess is USSF sprung for him to build the brand for 2 years and hand it back over to someone they can control.

IMO, anyone on the level of Pochettino was going to be a 2 year deal. Id imagine theyd want this gig and get back to club football after the WC. Its a way to manage a host nation in a WC, and only putting aside half the time.

Either way this is a win for US.

Just read that they are allowing him to keep a European base, not having to move to the US full time. 8 years ago that mightve been an issue. Being that our 11 should be with euro club teams these days, I actually think its a good thing.
