Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities (19 Viewers)

Bro sometimes in life, things just dont make sense .. at all…. Trust that there will be attempts to hold people and entities responsible- namely the City for not doing more to prevent.. ultimately though, the responsibility lies with the attacker, who’s not around to face any consequences .

You just need to realize that it’s impossible to make sense of things that dont make sense .

The idea that he must have been radicalized by some external force also ignores a very long history of humans developing feelings of detachment and rejection from what they believe is the society around them . . . a state of mind that, in some, can become violent entirely on its own.

I do think that some people become radicalized by organized systems (including online material) that foment these feelings in individuals - and the more the individuals become attached to the organization, the more pliable they are to carry out acts. But that certainly isn't essential - just because someone decides they're going to kill people while brandishing and ISIS flag doesn't necessarily mean they were radicalized by some online material or local agent.

it's much easier to understand that he went through some dark times with family and business and got radicalized by a group like ISIS and instead of ending his own life he decided to make a statement for whatever group manipulated his mind .
the guy in Vegas had taken his own life before the explosion. i have no doubt it'll eventually come out he was going through some hard times, luckily his didn't kill anyone.
when stuff like this happens people act like it must be something new causing it, video games, tv shows/movies, AI chat.. not stuff like this has been happening before any of that.
if you do things like this because of video games, etc, you were gonna do them eventually for another reason if that didn't exist.
the human mind can twist things and misremember things easily. it's easy to dwell on a thought and that thought turn into something completely different than how it originally started. we'll never understand how the human mind really works .

We have an odd detachment from ancient wisdom and understanding with regard to the bitterness and resentment that can reside in every heart. It's a good thing to occasionally revisit the story of Cain and Abel. We don't need to get inventive to surmise how this guy decided to kill a bunch of people.

So how do we determine who Cain is among us? This society presently isn't built for that. Somehow - like cyber security or even defending in sports - this has to be more of a team (all of us) effort.

Too many of us are depending on institutions alone. Plenty of people walked through that section of sidewalk and there are businesses that are near that section of sidewalk that Cain drove through and nobody thought of questioning authorities. I'm just using this as an example and not placing blame.

Where was this guy radicalized? It was in our backyard! Not more than a 6 hour drive at the most for the most of us. I want to know. The families want to know. Why?
here's a pro publica article about a guy who went deep undercover in several paramilitary/white nationalist type groups
while not directly answering your questions is does point to things you are wondering about
