VIDEO: Armstead says "I'm ready" (1 Viewer)

Now I'm worried.

In the video, he says "Charles is a good player. Really really good player. He's been teaching me......"

I've always believed that a student is only as smart as his teacher....

As someone who has taught for 40 years, I'd have to say that that's almost but not quite true. At most, I've had about five students over the years that I thought were smarter than I am. It depends on the results. I've had students who were way more talented than I am, but they often fizzle out, coasting on their native talent and not doing the work that's required to have genuine success. Conversely, I've had students that weren't talented at all but worked very hard and did very well with their careers.

What we have in Terron Armstead is a tremendously talented player with almost incredible athletic skills. It remains to be seen if he has learned the fine points and has done the work required for succeeding in the NFL. Let's hope so, or Sunday could be a pretty bad scene.

I got a feeling that Armstead is going to be a beast.

Coach knows what he is doing. Look at his track record of selecting and developing quality O-linemen - Evans, Nicks, Strief, Bushrod.

Armstead's physical abilities are superior to most O-lineman. His speed and strength are off the chart. Physically, he is there. Coach thinks he is ready, and I trust Coach.

What I like about the interview is not what he says, but how confident his demeanor is. I never got that sense from Brown, his personality always came off as apprehensive.

Hopefully he will be up for the challenge.

I took it as he is saying what is politically correct. He can't say Charles was stinking it up so the coach thought I'm along far enough to get in there and perform better. He does not have a "deer in the headlights" look in his eyes. He looks confident.

Has anyone seen any interviews of Charles Brown since he's been benched? And does anyone else think Armstead looks like a linebacker in the interview - not an offensive lineman?

He's very long and lean. Yes he's built more like a DE than an OT. He looks like a teenager too.

True, but how do you explain why Brown hasn't panned out so far?
