Vikings No Call, Integrity of the Game and the Saints (1 Viewer)

The thing about the NFL is they do not need a Rams/Jets or a Chargers/Giants Super Bowl like MLB needs a Yankees/Dodgers World Series or a Lakers/Celtics NBA Finals.
The Saints/Colts Super Bowl started the trend of the Super Bowl breaking the all time viewing record.
And the ‘09 NFCCG is still the highest (or nearly highest) rated conference championship game.

I think you’re underestimating the impact the L.A. market has on the TV contracts. You think the league made relocating back to L.A. a priority for years all for nothing?

It’s a big market money maker for them on a national exposure scale. This isn’t even debatable.

The NFL contracts were increasing every year without L.A.

You’re overestimating the importance of the L.A. teams being good.
If that were true, why have they allowed the Jets to be a dumpster fire for a half century and the Giants to be as mismanaged for over a decade.

It’s literally the largest media market in the country. The more fan interest the league can generate in that market, the better.

The Giants are a multi-time SB champion and both they and the Jets are long time fixtures with generations of loyal fans; the same can’t be said about the Rams or Chargers even despite the Rams once residing there.

They don’t want L.A. to be a passive market; they want it to become a rabid market like it has in other places.

They already have the attention of the country! Even when the small market teams are dominating.

Not in L.A.

L.A. didn’t care about football. Fan interest when they had teams was pitiful.

I can’t believe someone is actually debating this to be honest.

The Rams were in L.A. for over fifty years. A half century.
The owner at the time just wanted to go back to her hometown.
The relocation to St. Louis was unpopular even at the time.

I don’t mean to play the age card, but you were what…11 the last time they had football in L.A.?

There was a severe fan interest issue there. There is a reason the teams left.

Furthermore, you don’t think the team leaving for more than two decades would leave an even more significant fan interest gap?

Come on man. Go do some research. At this point you’re just debating for the sake of it rather than actually saying anything factual.

The league lost the fans in that market.

And you’re arguing that there is a League wide conspiracy to prop up a certain team(s) when it’s been proven that the ratings/national interest is the same year to year no matter what teams are in the mix.

Never said “league wide conspiracy.” Guess this is the part where you misstate your opponent’s position to make it sound ridiculous. 😂

Go do some research.

At no point when L.A. had no team did national interest in the NFL dip.
In fact, it increased over that time.
