Vilma told to seek trade!!! (1 Viewer)

This has been the guy I've wanted for a while. I think a trade for a conditional pick based on performance/playing time is perfect for Vilma. Something like a 4th that can become a 3rd that can become a 2nd.....

Why waste a high draft pick lets get Briggs. Briggs has no health concerns and according to Bears fans he wants to play the MLB. Why not invest in a young healthy player and forget about the MLB or SLB spot for 5 or 6 years.

That'd be great. If only Brian came along with him.

I wouldn't give up more than a 4th for him at most. The guy is coming off of a MAJOR knee injury, and there are legitimate concerns he may not be ready for next season... or ever. I'd be willing to give them a conditional 5th rounder that could become a 4th if he plays a certain number of plays next season.

How much worse could he be at MLB than our current situation? Mark might be smarter at the position, but I'd be willing to be Briggs' athletic talent could make up for any mental downside at MLB.

I'd rather have a MLB that is always around the ball and over commits sometimes than a MLB that is always there seconds or yards too late.

The Bears fans who watch them both consistently, even though they were mad at him last year for his comments don't see him as a beneficiary of the the system. Most Bears fans want him back, and for much of last season they have suggested he would be the eventual replacement of Brian U.

There are not just a few fans in Chicago that feel like Briggs is the same calliber of LB as Urlacher.

how did we NOT know that taking a player out of his area of strength would be a near disaster? Read: J. David

I liked Vilma coming out of college and think he is a good player, but micro-fracture surgery on his knee? The type of injury and the concern for re-injury makes me hesitant of going after him by offering too much.

Offer the Jets a sack of boiled crawfish, a case of Dixie, and maybe a 6th rounder and see if they go for it, LOL.
Realistically, we can give up a 3rd and not get a better player than him in the 3rd even with his surgery.

Realistically we can get a great CB prospect in the 3rd or a Dominant Interior OL or possibly couple the pick with our first and get Ellis or Dorsey if one falls.

Can you really realistically compare placing a CB that isn't good at man coverage to switching a LBer to Mike that really wants a shot?

I don't think so, imo.

5th, conditional up to a 3rd seems right to me

i want this guy bad

Totally agree. I remember watching him his SR. year at Miami. I'm no expert by any means, but I've never seen instincts and a first-step like that from an LB.

Who says Hokies and Hoos can't agree?!?

Vilma is an elite talent and with the surgery who knows what he has left in the tank, but I am sure the Saints will check the knee out.

I honestly wonder what the knee injury was because it has been handled in the strangest way by the Jets?
