Saw this on the news this evening and didn't see it posted here. Something about this just doesn't sit right with me.

It all seems rather shady. As far as I can tell, these guys aren't in a position to enforce anything and give very vague responses about their "instructions".

Oh, and I'm sorry I didn't post this in the mega BP thread. But unless it's a picture thread, I'm not dealing with a hot mess of a few dozen pages.

There was another report of this kind of thing on one of the national news shows earlier. A lady doctor was telling the story of photos and links to injured wildlife disappearing off servers and websites. She sounded like a nutjob, but she was very clearly saying that reports of dead or injured animals resulted in immediate response from people even in the dead of night and that the animals were quickly bagged and gone.

You do realize that's this is like a legal investigation....of course its bagged and gone. You want us to leave it there to smell.

dumb *****. Every loves a good tinfoil hat story. Speaking of tinfoil, that's what the bodies are wrapped it in for evidence so the oil doesn't dissolve the plastic and ruin the chemical fingerprinting.

LOL Looks like some boy scouts out there.

SCOUTS HONOR!

Honestly, I don't know sheete about any of this except that it stinks. This "Dr. soandso" was on the national news with her story so that's all I was saying.

Frankly, the whole thing sounded stupid because if they're out there collecting debris and dead animals that fast then they're doing their job and ought to be praised instead of whined at.

Of course BP will limit visuals of the devastation, the same way the Pentagon prevents or discourages coverage of casuaties.

The more interesting but is the reports of sore throats and headaches among clean-up workers, in conjuction with:

Yeah, well the problem is that the Pentagon is our Federal gov't, this is a private company controlling public land. I have a huge problem when private industry is allowed to exert this much control. Our federal gov't looks more lame by the day. BP is what I expect them to be: a company trying to protect it's butt and shareholders at all costs. They could give "you know what" about our wildlife, land, you, or me - only to the extent they have to to keep their butts out of hot water. It is our gov't job to call them on their BS, and apply the heat.

This whole disaster is what happens when industry has our gov't in its pocket. Our failure to properly regulate the industry paved the way for this whole mess to happen.

And they are probably sitting in a freezer over in Theadore, AL ( or the equivalent in LA) where they will be necropsied and studied foe months or even years to come. Morbid job, but hightest regards to those who fo it.

Agreed.

What would happen if the reporter kept walking, what would the security guard do? Can he detain you?

I would love to see the rules/notes given to the security guards.

Also there have been reports of various negative comments on twitter being deleted.
Those with the #oilspill or #savethegulf can be tracked in the search bar.

Reminds me of what happened to a CBS news crew a few weeks back.
