We’ve been dead last in pass rush win rate all season after being dead last in 2022. The idea that we are overflowing with talent in the front seven can’t be accurate.

What’s interesting is that PFF found a few years back that coverage plays a bigger role in good pass defense than pass rush, but I don’t think they accounted for the being the worst pass rushing team.

And yet, after building big leads and reaching the point when running the ball on us (and therefore the clock) is all they want to do, we're able to pretty much shut it down. Like we can concentrate on stopping the pass or the run, but we don't have a package that is effective against both.
 
We let them look all world with 300 yds of offense in the first half. If, as a HC, your strategy is to play better in the 2nd half then you need to be fired. You can't dig your team into a hole and then expect them to climb out every week with an inept OC.
 
Giving up two TDs after your offense has pathetic three-and-outs twice in a row is kinda understandable. Those guys were barely back on the sidelines before Pete’s terrible gameplan and coaching had them grabbing their helmets again. This one is 100% on him. Dennis Allen will fall on the sword because he’s the head coach but this just has to be the tipping point for him on Pete, too. Pete’s lousy strategizing despite this bushel of talent will get Dennis fired if he commits to him. I believe Dennis should get to swap out his offensive coordinator after this season but I’m not even sure the pathway to pleading for that at this point.

It's a coaching problem. They just seem incapable of coming up with a game plan for the first half. It's maddening how they start so slow every game.

It makes me jealous of the Steelers. They're consistently good on defense and allow their average offense a chance to win games week in and week out.

Our defense is jekyll and hyde. We don't know which defense will show up from week to week.
