I’m as big of a homer as any other Who Dat, but this post is not a “rah, rah” deal.

The timing of several things are sort of strange, but are happening in the Saints’ favor:

* bye week… absolutely perfect
* Lattimore trade… (we made out)
* Taysom’s return adds horsepower
* Rizzi is a dynamic HC
* both TE’s are playing great
* our new WR’s gettin’ it done
* Penning is no longer a liability
* Demario found fountain of youth
* special teams hidden yardage ++
* AK-41’s value (rushing/receiving)
* defense stepping it up late in games
* McCoy’s return (…huge)
* Turner & Young starting to ball-out
* (edit) Carr is playing winning football 🏈

There are even more positives, and the great thing is that it’s creating a synergy of optimism.

What happens for the rest of the season remains to be seen. But it seems like there’s an atmosphere of “anything can happen.”

Good points.

I would have thought a few weeks ago that the NFC South crown was way out of reach….our schedule the rest of the way isnt too scary though after our mini winning streak. I will be watching the games with a lot more hope now.

In Rizzi we trust. Who dat

Too little, too late? Send like they do this every year as of late.

It does seem to be shaping up, but sadly to be a little more frustrating than usual.

I’d feel really pumped if we were sitting in the same spot at 5-6 than 4-7.

That loss to the Panthers is one of those that has the potential to haunt the 2024 Saints more than anything else.

But to your point, the team does appear to be shaping up and growing into a team that isn’t an absolutely embarrassment - but we are sitting in 13th place for the playoffs out of 16 teams in the NFC with 7 games to go.

The division is the most realistic path to postseason and that would require that we, in essence, go 7-0 and the Falcons 3-4. Again, not impossible but very, very improbable.

There is legit the possibility that the Saints could run the table, win their last 9 games and STILL miss the postseason.

That’s how bad a hole Dennis Allen dug the Saints into with that putrid 0-7 showing.

I love the optimism that Rizzi has brought back to the board, but I don’t think we run the table and I think at a minimum, they’d have to win 6 of the next 7 to have even a remote shot at the playoffs. I just don’t see it happening, sadly.

If only Loomis would of listened to Mrs Gail two weeks sooner

You listed McCoy being back, but what caused him to leave against the Browns? Is he expected back after the bye?

I got Atlanta definitely losing three more games at least. Chargers, Vikings, and Commanders. That brings them to 9-8.
And the Falcons aren’t a team to pencil in wins.
Tampa has the Chargers and the Saints. Drops them to 8 losses.
And I can see them dropping a surprise game or two.

Rizzi said it wasnt thought to be serious and could have returned, Deuce said during the game that he thought it could have been scar tissue breaking up

wouldnt surprise me if they did a clean up procedure during the bye - speculation on my part

He strained the repair and so got pulled for the 2nd half. Hopefully the 2 week rest will fix it. I was worried they brought him back for last week and likely should have waited until after the bye to give it 2 more weeks
