What’s your take on this offensive lineup?

Who’s better, Warren or Bowers?
Bowers as a receiving threat. As a total tight end, closer than most think but I’d go Bowers. Why? You’re not gonna mention draft position are you? Like Warren going at 9 and bowers later?

Because if you are you just cannot draft like that. You have to draft the players available to you. LeBron was the number 1 pick, if I have the next number 1 pick should I just not use it because that player isn’t as good as LeBron?

Brock broke TE records last year, so we can’t say a TE should never get drafted before where he was again, you can’t play the draft like that, every draft you have to revalue to players from this draft. I mean Tom brady went in the 6th round, should I not draft a QB before then?

If you meant something else let me know.

Say we take Warren at 14 and Tate In the 2nd. What you think?

QB Carr
HB Kamara/kendre/clyde
TE Warren/JJ/Taysom
LT Fuaga
LG Tate
C McCoy
RG Ruiz
RT Penning
WR Olave/shaheed/cooks/Means/Pettis
I think Moreau is still a legit No. 2 TE with Warren as 1A and JJ as 1B who we can use as an X-type receiver. I’m also interested to see if Hoelker can show anything in Year 2

Bowers was as close to a "can't miss" prospect at TE as it gets. He was dominant for many years of college football. Warren really broke out this year. That isn't to say that Warren can't be as valuable as Bowers, but if they were both in the same draft class there would be no doubt Bowers would be TE1 and Warren TE2.

That said, Bowers was a historic talent at TE and this draft class at the very top is a bit anemic.

Chuckles, didn’t mean that at all. Was asking because the Saints had a trade w/ the Rams queued up had Bowers fallen to them.

If they weren’t going to draft Bowers, who arguably had the look of a generation prospect last year at 14, then I’d say the chances are slim that they’ll take a lesser TE prospect at 9

I don’t get the impression they value TEs like that

Solid lineup
But my concerns are with the depth behind them.

Say we take Tyler Warren at 14 and Tate Ratledge in the 2nd. What you think?

QB Carr
HB Kamara/Miller/Edwards-Helaire
TE Warren/Johnson/Taysom Hill
LT Fuaga
LG Ratledge
C McCoy
RG Ruiz
RT Penning
WR Olave/Shaheed/Cooks/Means/Pettis
I think we draft a RB mid rounds maybe Sampson from Tenn as a 4th rounder.

QB Carr
HB Kamara/Sampson/Miller/Edwards-Helaire/
TE Johnson/Taysom Hill
LT Conerly
LG Penning - changed from RT
C McCoy
RG Ruiz
RT Fuaga - changed from LT
WR McMillian/Olave/Shaheed/Cooks/Means/Pettis

Draft picks in bold. McMillian in 1st, Conerly in 2nd, Sampson in 4th.

Luckily, it's a new regime. CkM will have a lot of influence on who will be picked.

Warren is vastly overrated as a blocker. A lot of people just look at his frame and assume he's an elite blocker when he's not.

Potential is there for sure but he's a lot closer to Bowers as a blocker than they are apart.

That’s fair, I meant as a prospect. Warren could become a very good blocker, I don’t know is Brock could. Maybe he could

Agreed.

I just think the way a lot of people talk about Warren is like he's this incredible blocker when he's really not. He's got the frame for sure.

If we've taken Warren @ 14 that means we would have gotten a 3rd and a 5th extra. We could have easily gotten an offensive weapon like Higgins or Ayomanor or Savion Williams. Or we could have packaged the 5th and a 3rd or a different combo to move into the 2nd for Hampton or another RB

You also have to take into consideration that the Raiders had no other weapons last yr and I mean no one, so Bowers got most of the targets

I must have caught the right games, but Warren was mauling defenders on the edge during the games I watched. No…he’s not Brock. There’s only one of those guys…but Warren is a stud. He’s still a guy I’d love to have on my football team.
