What do you think made it click for Sam Darnold? (2 Viewers)

It's much like when Case Keenum was with the Vikings in '17 after Bridgewater got hurt the previous season. Keenum led the Vikings pretty well, into the NFCCG after our little missed tackle and all, but was still let go after the season in favor of signing Cousins to that megadeal.
And in retrospect, probably the right call, but still not optimal results.

Where was this Sam Darnold? He came out of nowhere to become one of the nfl's best this year. Do you think it's a one year wonder thing or a true picture? Kinda similar to Baker Mayfield? Thoughts?
1.) the five OL in front of him.

2.) “Justin’s down there somewhere”

Seriously, look at his first 5 games /mcaffrey, and other decent players, they sadly dominated us. Mcaffrey got hurt, then he looked like terrible darnold again.

Aaron jones and Justin Jefferson are his key to success. Tj hockenson sdoesnt hurt much..

What made it click for Darnold? He was able to put his sneaky athletic skills to use and bring his lunch pale to work while wearing a shirt with a blue collar.

Did you see him against the Lions. He’s still the same Sam. Hopefully he lights it up against the Rams so the Vikings vastly overpay for him and trade their rookie

Still has happy feet

Still feels pressure that isn’t there when he gets hit a couple times

Still comes off receivers way too fast in the redzone

Still can’t manipulate the pocket

Just surrounded by great talent with a coach that can coach
Lol Darnold is making me and others look like a genius and I don’t know about yall but I’m no genius 🤣🤣🤣

I think this board (and a lot of others) overrates Baker and Darnold. Darnold got exposed last week, and I think he's gonna flame out when he plays a real playoff defense. He may do well tonight, the Rams aren't the D powerhouse they were back when they won the super bowl, but when they play Phili, it's gonna look a lot like last week for Darnold.
This thread is not aging well.
I think it’s again just fine 😉

Football has its Aaron Judge.

Regular Season Sam has been born.

9 sacks ? In one playoff game? Ooof!

He was holding on to the ball entirely too long last night. Bad performance in the most important game of the year.

Except like any journeyman QB (Keenum, Foles for example), he eventually crashed back down to earth.
