To pick anyone but Sean Payton for Coach of the Year at this point is just plain crazy. Yes, I am "DIEHARD" Saints fan, and want nothing but the Saints to shine. But him picking Tony Dungy as Coach of the Year midway through the season is just shows he has no clue. How many years has Dungy had with his team? And he can't get it done. And I will go out on a limb and say they won't get it done this year. Another so called expert who knows nothing. Good player in his day, but come on Woodson, give Payton and the Saints the respect this team deserves.

I agree to take this team from the rubble to the stage the way Payton has even if we go 3 and 5 the remainder of the year and finish 9-7 and even glimpse at the playoffs Payton has more than proven his ability to judge talent and to put together a crew that gets it done. Hell I could coach Indy!!

Woodson also said that Javon Walker was the biggest off season acquisition this year. I think Woodson has also stated that he has had more than 30 concussions in his carerr.

Here's what I think I'm seeing/hearing from all these so called "experts" - when the season started and the Saints beat two bad teams in the Browns and Packers the "experts" were somewhat surprised. There was alot of "good for them", "the Saints are a feel good story", bah, blah, blah. The Saints MNF victory against the Falcons was chalked up "as all emotion". The Eagles game was a "letdown game" for the Eagles after their emotional game with the Cowboys. The sportsmedia sees the Saints record as smoke and mirrors.

But suddenly there are cracks in the sportsmedia "Saints as feel good story" facade. The experts started picking against them (how else can you explain picking Tampa to beat the Saints?). Their midseason playoff predictions either have the Saints as a wildcard or missing the playoffs entirely ignoring the fact the Saints currently lead the division. Listening to/reading the sportsmedia I get the distinct impression they are now "tired" of the current blue collar Saints and would rather talk about Mike Vick or TO. The Saints have burned them in past (how many sportsmedia "experts" picked Haslett's Saints to make the playoffs have them start off great, then collapse down the stretch?) so they're more than willing to "write off" the Saints.....

The Saints don't sell commercials the way Vick/TO/Brady or ATL/NE/DAL does. It's obvious that their "analysis" is biased for the money that is brought in by the marketing game. If the Saints were as popular as the above mentioned teams, then we'd be all over the papers/tv. But, we are a small market and not nationally televised enough to sell commercials or respect.

I actually like Woodson, even if he isnt jumping on the Saints bandwagon. Would you rather have someone that just says what us fans want to hear or someone that actually has his own opinions. I think its refreshing to listen to an ex-player that can talk in a professional manner and express his opinion without showing extreme bias towards his former teams. I like it when He and Marshall Faulk or on at the same time. Faulk is a huge Saints homer so they kind of balance each other out without acting like know it all jack arses like Dukes and Sanders who never show the Saints any love. I guess we can always switch the channel to ESPN and watch Michael Irvin!

All you have to do is ask other head coaches who is the coach of the year to find out the right answer. I would suspect that most would say Payton.

Indy without Manning & NO without Brees = Same result.

Indy without Dungy = Manning still wins games
NO without Payton = OH S*&% this is going to be ugly

Payton deserves the Award...............................................

Not to defend Dungy and Woodson too much but the Colts are only the second team in history to go 8-0 two consecutive years.

I personally think payton has done more with less but you have to give Dungy credit for being great. JMHO

Manning is who drives that Team not Dungy.
Dungy does not even call the plays.

I am more surprised with a 6-2 Saints than a 8-0 Colts.

And the only team to do it since they quit making helmets out of leather.
But is 8-0 2 years running a coaching thing or a talent thing? With guys like Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Dwight Freeney, Nick Harper, and Cato June, I'll go with talent.

Think about it: Dungy leaves Tampa, defense still great. That's Monty Kiffen. Dungy joines Indy, keeps offensive cordinator. Indy's defense barely improves, Peyton continues being All-World and the defense that was good last year has regressed. THIS is the coach of the year? Having a good team last year, losing almost no FA's (who besides Edge mattered?), and still having a good team the next year means the coaching is stellar? I'm not buying that one. Dungy has had the MOST TALENTED defense and the MOST TALENTED offense and has ZERO Super Bowl rings. Call me when he does.

Dungy's Colts team is horrible at both running the ball and stopping the run. He needs to thank his lucky stars that he had Manning to bail his team out. And I despise Peyton Manning.
