What other coaches really think about DA and the Saints. (1 Viewer)

They do. My daughter plays volleyball with one of the coaches for the commanders kids and he has good things to say about DA. I always try to get the tea on what the Saints are doing. Says we made some great hires and he was glowing about the Marcus Robertson move.

Truthfully, what quote is he supposed to say? "There are only 32 NFL tight end jobs and I was lucky enough to be able to stay in the NFL because the Saints offered me my only opportunity." I wouldn't put much weight into his statement. I'm not saying it can't be honest, but he's not going to come out and say this was my only option.

I like the sentiment. I also don’t take it as anything more than saying the right thing in the right moment. I mean, the article was created to be posted on the Saints’ official website.

I get that. But, when you combine that with things like DA and Carr staying in touch, and all the talk about DA being a head coach one day when he was still a DC under Payton, maybe he's a little better than some give him credit for. Honestly, I'm not ready to say one way or the other, yet. But I like his coaching hires, and I think the coaching staff is better this year than last year.

Clancy Barone - Saints TE Coach

I kinda think that the rest of the league has a higher opinion of DA than Saints fans do.
This is coming from the Saints site, do you really think ANY coach is gonna give a bad opinion of any HC in public? It's a small coaching world and burning a bridge will not get you a job when you need one

Sure, but this has been the sentiment going back to his days in Denver. Does that mean he will be a good HC? No. But, I think it's enough to not kick the guy to the curb just yet after one season where half the team was injured.
