What Song Most Encapsulates the 1980s? (2 Viewers)

No, but we don't judge here.

Judging?
It was the time I discovered the comfort of skirts and the possibilities of contour and color on my eyes and cheekbones

Not ashamed to admit that I wore eyeliner in the 80s. GREAT way to meet girls, and never had to do it myself.

Beautiful Girl: "LOVE your hair....can I do your eyes?"
Me: "Uh....okay"
(girl whips out eyeliner pen and tells me "Hold still", as she sketches around my eyeballs, then studies her pen strokes...)
Girl: "There....now you're beautiful!"
Me: "Thank you.....would you like to go out sometime?"

It was my "go to" move. It was my ONLY move! But it actually worked most of the time...

I wondered back in the day whether I would still like metal when I became older versus being forced to listen to only Montovani. Now that I've reached a "certain age", I can confirm I still like to head bang, thank God.
I did list some Ozzy and AC/DC. Considered Judas Priest, but I was aiming for music that appealed more across the board.

Released in 81, this song held up pretty well through the end of the decade. Really only the grunge sound of the 90s made it seem dated, so it didn't "transcend the decade" quite as much as some other sounds

Late to this thread, but am watching Chiefs Bills game and they played out to commercial after Kelce’s TD with Hhey Lewis & the News The Power of Love.. and even though we are doomed as a society due to all the ”Kel-Swift” coverage- id say Power of Love would not be a terrible choice for song of the 80s.. it’s possibly the most 80s band, combined with THE most 80s movie in BTTF .

Over 5 pages and no G&R?

Welcome to the Jungle always kind of summed up the no-holds-barred approach many of us took to life in the 80’s. Right foot flat on the floor, throttle wide open all the time both figuratively and literally.

They feel '90s to me.
