What was the Saints signature win in 2017/18? (1 Viewer)

Signature in terms of coming back from near-certain defeat was the Washington game. The Skins choked that game away like we used to back during the bad ol' days.

Signature in terms of importance in the standings were both wins over Carolina during the regular season. The first one, on the road, was do-or-die in terms of saving the season after the bad start. The second one solidified the Saints as the division's best.

I guess it depends on each individual person's definition of "statement game".

My personal definition is essentially a game where the doubt has officially been eliminated that a team is for real and a legitimate threat to contend for a championship.

I personally don't think it took until week 16 on Christmas Eve for that to happen with the Saints............though that game certainly brightened most of our holidays, for sure.

I guess the "downside" of a good season is that usually it involves multiple scenarios to choose from, when it comes to this sort of thing. Just like in 2009.........there were the Washington and Miami comebacks......not to mention throttling the Giants in a game where both teams were undefeated...........but at the end of the day, most people are gonna say the New England MNF game was the statement game of that season.

The title of the thread was signature win. The Falcons game felt like the signature game of 2017. It summed up entirely how our team was with running the ball so heavily and it was at the time when the defense was doing everything right.

IMO our statement game had to be playing Detroit. That was the game when the defense proved they were done with being the old awful Saints defenses and the three defensive TD's really saved us in that game.

Our offense last year was not well equipped to get into back-and-forth shootout games like we did in previous seasons. This was made obvious in the Patriots game, as well as when we played Atlanta on TNF and then the Bucs at the end of the year. Third down crippled our offense in those, as well as lack of short yardage passing. The Lions game and then the Falcons on Christmas Eve were games where our defense picked up where the offense was struggling and did everything right to give them second chances when they needed it.

If our defense improves again this year and if we can fix our third down issues, we will be a SB contender for sure this season.

As much as I liked the Buffalo dominace, the comeback vs. the Redskins, I still have to say the win at Carolina turned the season around. Without that we were screwed.

My favorite was the Redskins game because I got to go to work the next day and drink the tears of their fans, and Man, there was some serious crying going on.

I think the signature game was the first Carolina game. It set the standard for the rest of the season. But the Buffalo game was pure dominance.

Going into Carolina and thrashing them.

The season is over if we lose.

We weren't going to lose that day.
I agree with this one. We needed to come in play well and win. Already the media and the fans had already wrote off the season after the two lost.

To me this was the most important win. We had looked like a bad football team the first 2 games, looked like little to no improvement on the defense. We were 0-2, Carolina was 2-0 and we were playing them at home. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, our defense causing turnovers, our offense finishing drives, it was complete dominance away at a divisional opponent many thought were favorites to win the division.

The signature win was Buffalo. Armstead was healthy and the offensive line completely dismantled Buffalo's D...and Buffalo was a top 10 rushing defense (at least at that time). We showed we could be versatile offensively in that game which made us a dangerous team...

Lions game by far. Didn't we score 21 defenseive points that game? Lattimore's pick 6 was amazing to watch in person. I was there!

Going with Washington too, two unbelievable comebacks led by Brees last year, too bad only one ended in a W.

Beating Carolina on the road has to be #1.

... but beating Carolina at home was a delicious treat.

....... and beating Carolina in the playoffs was a grande dessert to top it off with warmed cognac and a cigar.

The only way it could have been better, is if we played the Failcons next and beat them at home, then beat the SuckKings in the NFCCG once again.

Carolina, Carolina, Carolina

you know damn well the national media wanted the Panthers to beat us, every single time.

Bills game was lovely no doubt but the skins game had me thinking we were goin to the SB. Had a crazy game like that with them pricks in 09'
