Saints What was your PERSONAL reaction to the “no-call” vs the Rams? (1 Viewer)

I still watch the saints , because its the only thing that my oldest boy and I seem to make time for, but honestly I do not have the emotion for the game anymore,I have not purchased one single saints or nfl related item since that day have not went to any games, id ont bet football, play fantasy and win or lose 5 min after each game its out of my mind, the game is rigged, juiced or whatever I don’t believe it has anymore integrity then pro wrestling.

I was absolutely seeing red! But in my mind, I wondered why Lewis didn’t get up and scream bloody murder! 😡 He just ran off like “oh, well.”

Brees and the Saints should have gotten their 2nd Super Bowl 🏈 that season!

Bro, please don't. LOL. This should only be a topic after we win another SB. LOL.

Are we really digging this up again?

Despite other incidents and mostly rejecting them, it became crystal clear to me how the NFL can rig games for a desired outcome. It killed what was left of my passionate fandom and interest. I no longer get emotionally involved into the outcome, knowing there's a puppet master who could be pulling the strings at any time.

I was in the dome.. Stunned... Walked back to the hotel with my son... All I wanted to do was sit and be miserable but all of my drunk friends and relatives wanted me to explain... How do you you explain something like that.. So I just left them and went for a walk around Harrahs.... Still couldn't get away from it.... All I wanted to do was be miserable... So I sat down and watched Tom Brady get handed another AFC Championship on a bogus call...

It became abundantly clear at that point that someone... the NFL or the gamblers or both were controlling the outcomes.. I have never been one to believe that.... That night I did..... I guess it is not fathonable for that to be real but that night just makes one think

The 'false sense of security' became just that. Before that, even after 2012, you assume your team is going to be treated fairly and everything is above board. But the moment something that flagrant falls, and no ones there to fix it... thats when i knew this franchise was on its own. Either we blow out everyone all the way to the Lombardi, our we will never see it again. The NFL probably wants to keep the Saints, but they certainly do not want us to win anything. I think thats irrefutable at this point. So our odds of getting back there are extremely slim. Again, in a playoff situation, we would need to have the team ready to win by 3 scores to overcome the zebra correction factor.

Funny you mention 2011, I totally forgot about that one after the No Call. That one stuck with me until 2018 even more so because 2018 was the NFC Championship game one bad call away from the Super Bowl.

2011 was a divisional game if I recall not as much meaning still very important though. But that was more on the team more so than any league officiating. The defense was more or less trash back then in 2011. That was almost expected even though it still hurt bad. Miracle was a dagger no doubt and it was once again a divisional game. And of course, the Super Bowl will always be #1 in fact even if we win another that one will still be the #1 because it was the first. I would like to get another Super Bowl win to move the 2018 one down a peg.
One bad call away is kind of an understatement in my opinion.

I’d violate the TOS here if I wrote the language I used after that con-job 😁

I’ve tired to eliminate most memories from that day but I do remember walking almost the whole way back to my dad’s apartment in silence. If you know me back then that was not my normal behavior after a lose

I do feel as part of my passion for the sport died that day. Now a lose doesn’t affect me like they did in the past. You’ve heard of the 24 hour rule, I have like a 30 minute rule now

I knew immediately after that debacle I would never look at the NFL the same way again....I still enjoy watching but don't take it nearly as seriously as I used to.....to me now it's just entertainment.....

I had a lot of folks ask me as a saints fan what I thought of the no-call (which I found annoying), my response...."you saw it, right? What did you think?"

Dumbest question ever....

Shock. I got hit in the head with an empty beer can that was thrown towards the field - yet I didn't care about being hit in the head.

Anger!!! How could the honest hard work of the team be nullified be the political desire of a dishonest person(s). Not only that, we would have to re-do the same hard work, next season, to have another opportunity.

I don’t think there was a conspiracy. But, I do think a “helpful push” was made to put LA Rams in the Super Bowl, to reward them for moving back to Los Angeles.

It was the day that I 100% realized that the NFL is sports entertainment and not true sports. That game forever changed my view of the NFL.

The Saints were blatantly cheated and the world saw it… and nothing happened.

The media and the league spun it so the Saints and Saints fans were quickly turned into the villains and whiney crybabies.

I haven’t purchased any NFL gear or apparel since and never will again

I was in the dome. It was surreal. Leaving the dome was like leaving a funeral. I think that was the beginning of my apathy for the nfl. I used to watch all games that I could. Now it’s just the saints. On a plus side, I don’t get as over emotional during saints games as I used to.
I agree with this 100%. I’ve never left a game before with that kind of feeling or vibe coming off every fan. Completely stunned and couldn’t believe what had just happened. It was so quiet. Not like a normal game where there are 10,000-20,000 opposing fans. Think I saw maybe 5 or 6 Rams jerseys. It was like, this has to be the worst thing to ever happen to a sports team and surely somehow some way it gets corrected. Even though you know it won’t.
