When I look back at that 2020 Daft that we picked Cesar Ruiz over Jalen hurts what was they thinking (2 Viewers)

They were thinking we really need to help protect our QB. Wasn’t that the year DB got hurt?

Let’s deep dive since we playing second guessing how about when the Saints passed on Joe Montana 3 times

And didn’t they pass on Eddie George for Molden as a favor to Mora Jr or is that urban legend
Please. Different decades but decent question. Mine too

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

It didn’t have to be Hurts, but not taking a 1-2 round QB in the last four to five years is inexcusable.
That is exactly what I meant to say. Thank you.

What makes you think Hurts would be the player he is now if he was playing under the Saints coaching staff?

Was there an option of drafting a future HC and OC in that draft?
I’ll bite. Hurts was drafted by Philly and sat behind Carson Wentz. Had we drafted Hurts, he would’ve sat behind Drew. Who would you rather your rookie QB learn from? Plus, IF we drafted Hurts, and he progressed, then maybe SP never leaves?!?! I’ll admit, that with the run heavy style of play SP veered towards, Hurts would’ve been the perfect QB for his style of offense.

Almost anything is possible. Brees and Hurts are (were) completely different QBs and the system Sean ran was specifically for Brees.

But SP had a system for Taysom. You don’t think SP could’ve created a system for Jalen? It would’ve been one of the easiest things for SP to do.

I don't blame us for not drafting a QB. When you have Drew Brees, you build around him until he retires.

We needed OL help. If we had not gotten OL then, we'd be wishing we had now. We just should have gotten a better OL pick.

Don’t you think the plan all along was to use one of them at Guard?
But why not just draft a guard? The player would already be familiar with the position, and guards are paid less than centers in the NFL. Someone playing well at center would likely not want to move to guard for that reason alone.

Addressed it twice already.

We could’ve used help in a handful of positions. Look at the talent in that 2nd rd. Yet we chose a guy who got Drew killed. So many of these dudes were NFL ready. You didn’t need to meet with them in person and have workouts with them. Their game film was good enough. Especially if that is all the teams had to go by
D'Andre Swift would have helped out a lot, especially with what is happening now. Lol

They had folks that wanted Jalen Hurts, but they wanted him to be another version of Taysom Hill. SMH

In all fairness, neither were 1st rounders.
A better example would be Deuce McCallister when we had R. Williams on the roster. Deuce dropped too far down to pass up and was arguably best available.
