Bagging on Peat all the time?

Just rewatched the game and he missed one block the whole game. In fact he pretty much dominated his man.

He was unsuccessful on another block on a sweep but it was more just great defense. In fact Alvin lost five or six yards on the play because three Bucs got to him in the backfield.

On another play he was held by the second defender that he stonewalled after tagging someone else first. When he was held it allowed a delayed blitzer to get by him. Should Peat really be expected to block three guys on one play.

All in all Peat was flat out dominant but he remains the fans whipping boy. This type of performance is why the saints paid him.

I can't speak for everyone but consistency has been my biggest problem with Peat. One game won't fix that. I saw one ugly play and one good play and said I would reserve judgement until I see a better study. I only started being critical of Peat when he started collecting huge paychecks. Which should come with the territory.

Agree on the consistency part, don't agree on the paycheck part if you are implying it is an effort issue. I think Peat wants to be good/great but the health issue has been the most significant factor. Before the injuries most of us considered him to be one of the best LG's in the NFL.....

I try to avoid talking about his injury issues. I won't bash him for them because they have been fluky even though often. I also won't give him leeway for them either. He's had enough time healthy. That said, he has tried to tough them out when he has them and I respect that.

It's just the simplest sense of living up to your cap hit.

he got out really nicely on a screen and made a block. He was way out near the sideline and only got a small piece of his man, but a small piece of Peat is a big piece of man.

He had the one whiff, which looked like a bad decision, but he played a pretty good game from what I saw. Waiting on the breakdown.

He actually had a big block on the Harris screen and the Kamara td screen.
