What position would you be least happy with the team selecting at #9, irrespective of the player?

I'm not really qualified to do player evaluations so I tend to defer to those who do so professionally, despite the dubious success rate. That said, this draft feels like the team can go many different ways at the 9th pick given there are still many positions that could be upgraded. Obviously, there may be only one player at any given position who is "worthy" of that selection, so that will guide some of the results here. Feel free to opine however you'd like to support your choice.

CB

It's a less effective position if the middle of your defense is weak. Offensive plays to the outside are much harder to execute well then plays between the numbers. Runs up the middle, dump off passes, crossing patterns to pick on LB's. All much easier to execute. And your CB's can only be so effective if you lack pass rush.

Fix the front 7 before investing capitol to the outside.

Saying which position to avoid is just as counterproductive as stating which position to draft. Neither represents sound drafting strategy. The selection when on the clock should be based on the players available, nothing else.

If I were pressed, I can safely say there's no offensive lineman worth one of the top 9 picks. Will Campbell would rank behind the top 5 OL in last year's draft and he's the best of this year's crop.

That's silly. If the next Deion Sanders is available you don't draft him to concentrate on the front 7? That's how you get fired. No, if a great CB is there you take him and focus on the front 7 when you can. Or vise versa. Don't pass on a great LB, take him, and focus on CB when you can. In other words, draft players not position.

I don't disagree. But I don't see the next Deion Sanders in this draft either which is what the question was targeting.

My favorite part is where you criticize the process and then immediately undercut your own sanctimony by trashing a specific position group. Impressive.

People are allowed to have preferences, as evidenced by your second paragraph where you state an obvious preference.
