NFL Draft Who’s on your “Do not draft “ at 9?

The four “do not draft” at 9 in my mind:

Shemar Stewart DE Texas A&M

Mykel Williams DE Georgia

Will Johnson CB Michigan

Will Campbell OL LSU

(though to be honest any EDGE or OL sounds like an auto do not draft at 9)

This doesn’t have to be just the number 9 pick: Are there any guys you think the Saints should heavily avoid?
Jaxon Dart for me. Don’t understand Will Campbell on that list at all.

At 9, I don't want to see us draft ANY quarterback, but especially not Sanders.

If only some incriminating video would turn up of Carter or Graham drunk or something would magically appear so the teams above freak out (so he falls to us) before finding out after the draft that it's all a deep fake hoax (I guess that should go on the "pipe dream" thread).

It should be pretty obvious

He’s an OL for starters and one that has horrible tape.
lol just stop it man. Bad tape? Not a 1st rounder. Played 2,553 snaps in 3 years allowing only 5 sacks – 3 as a true freshman in 2022 and 2 in 2024 going against top talent in the toughest conference in college football. It’s one thing to not think he fits for whatever reason or may not be your favorite but bad tape and not a first round talent when every NFL scout and non scout has him rated a first rounder and top ten pick basically is silly.

I watch LSU friend and he had a poor season last year. He cost himself a lot last season.

He’s a bad fit on this team as we have our tackles and it’d be a waste of a top 10 pick on a guard.

He’l likely still be a first rounder due to how weak this class is but he’s sliding on Draftbuzz to the late teens.

And please don’t tell me to “stop it” ok? This is my opinion even if you disagree.

I am not a fan of Campbell as a top tier prospect(good lineman but not where many project him to go) and not on our team for various reasons.

I'm in full agreement with all 4 of these. Do not want any of them at all except Campbell if we trade back to late teens or Johnson if we trade back to 20's. Barron I believe is a much better CB then Johnson. Stay completely away from Stewart and Williams unless they somehow appear in the late 4th or 5th as a development project to figure out why they suck at game time.

Shemar Stewart

If we draft another athletic freak with no on-field production then it's clear we have learned nothing at all from three wasted first round picks for Davenport and Turner.
Anyone but Stewart!

Anyone who is a bust.... hehe
The only name I would hate to see drafted at 9 any QB not Sanders or Ward....

I'm all for trading back. Id rather turn number 9 and even our 2nd rounder into multiple top 100 picks. We need 6 or 7 good starters/rotational players in this draft, and there's no guaranteed blue chips at the top of the first round.

A lot of good answers in this thread about who not to take with the 9th pick, but... what if we cant find a trade partner? If the media/fans are right about this class being a weak and thin at the top of round one, id think most teams would either stay put or try to trade back themselves.

In that case we would have to pick somebody, and positional value kinda gets thrown out the window. So why not take a OG if you think he's a long term starter? A productive OT with short arms? A big bodied WR that would be a 2nd rounder in most draft classes? A safety that won the combine? A RB or TE? A developmemtal QB with some elite traits? A DE with question marks? A DT thats more of a late first round prospect? Etc...

If forced to use pick 9, and no player is graded that high, you still have to pick somebody. At that point Id be cool with adding an immediate starter that upgrades a position and hope he proves worthy of that draft slot eventually. What else you gonna do?
