NFL Draft Who’s on your “Do not draft “ at 9?

To be fair, there are flaws in Ward, Carter, and Hunter too. There is no perfect prospect. Ward has question marks regarding whether he can play in structure or under center. Hunter has question marks regarding whether he should play CB or WR and whether he's a true impact player at either of those positions. And Carter has injury concerns.
well ya that’s def true but i’d be excited about any of them. well i don’t want grade 2 3 firsts for Cam. i won’t be excited for anyone at 9.

This is how i see it. How many NFL caliber edge rushers did these guys face?. The dropoff is huge in edge rush talent from certain conferences.

You'll see OL scouting reports on some players and it'll mention how he did against one SEC school his team played against. And even if he held his on in that game, how would he have held up week after week facing that level of competition?

Tough to judge. To me Campbell's biggest plus is his endurance and health through a long and productive college career. I think he'll be a good pro, but maybe as a guard.

Ya I definitely do not want as a tackle. We'd be better off going someone like Banks and sliding Penning inside.

The most exciting options would be Tet, Warren, or Jeanty. But Jeanty probably won't be there and the other two might not. We could be left with some very unsexy options at #9, but sometimes that works out the best.

Pass on Campbell, probably the worst tape of any top 10 OL i've ever scouted. Not to mention his really short arms and single percentile wingspan.

I've been saying this since the end of LSU season, I don't think he is even a 1st round talent at this point....

Every draft pick is a project player. Even guys that produce on Saturdays go bust. Look no further than Foskey for that.

It's why the draft is such a crap shoot and even the best are probably only right about 50% of the time.
Foskey’s behind three guys at the same position - I think my meaning is less opaque than this response suggests.

At 9 this team needs a sure thing and the highest likelihood of drafting one will be by picking a player who has put good work on tape already.

I've seen these for Olineman and Dlineman. I absolutely love these. My only problem is there should be a 3rd column displaying average opponent strength. Example here would be Will Campbell. He's yellow. But Logan Brown who played for KU is light green indicating better. Yet Campbell was matching up against the best of the best that college has to offer while Brown was matching up against worst of the average. Switch teams and Campbell is likely blue and Brown is likely orange or red.

Curious, where do you get these?
These are sourced online from trusted scouts Brett Kollman I believe his name. Now your argument absolutely makes sense when you're talking about Will vs Logan Brown.

Here's the problem... Will played in the SEC.

So did Membou and Banks.

Will seems like a great kid and might be a great pro but his tape is not nearly as strong as some talk about him.

That mixed with his historically bad wingspan is cause for concern at pick 9.

I'm not making that argument as justification to draft Campbell but just as a general concept. Some may look at this and say "Just draft Brown!". No. I don't want Campbell either as an OT. Maybe he'll be a better guard. But he would be an upgrade over Penning. Just not as much as many think.

That's fair. I'm just not sure that there is a sure thing in any draft no matter where you are drafting. Seemingly safe picks and sure things seem to bust all the time.

But if you mean that we need to avoid a guy like Shemar Stewart who has all the measurables, but almost no college production, then I agree.

No quarterbacks….unless Ward drops to 9

Otherwise I want a player from a dominant major conference team (not Notre Dame) that balled out week in week out
You need someone who balled out but they also need to have translatable traits.

Foskey "balled out" in the stat sheet but if you watched the tape he beat up on lesser OTs and got dominated by the big school OTs.

He was also stiff as a board with only one move (speed to power).

My hope with Foskey is based on Dennis Allen's history of making chicken *stuff* out of chicken salad. (Baun, Hendricks)

Hopefully we can at least get some production out of him as a stand up rusher. I get that he's stiff and only has speed to power, but I think/hope that Staley can find a way to use that more effectively since his fronts seem to be more varied than what DA used.
