Best Saints GM in franchise history?

I thought the high character thing had more to do with our experience with Junior Galette than it did the hiring of Ireland. I think it’s just a coincidence he came in that year we cut Junior.
I was actually rooting for Junior since he went to Stillman (college conference rival) :(. Thought he was going to turn everything around afterwards and then the achilles happened....twice

I voted Ireland. because Loomis is really a capologist, and not really a talent evaluator. Payton really does that, and the past few seasons Jeff Ireland formed the talent braintrust with Payton. That is not to take anything away from Mickey with manipulating the cap to the team's advantage.

Being an old timer I am voting for Bert Rose (1967) who selected Paul Hornung in the expansion draft and traded for Jim Taylor.... This dude got us 2 HOF running backs in our first year....

Umm one (Hornung) never played a down and one gained maybe 300 yards but hey he went and got em.... Loominising??? nahhh... Rosing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is this even a debate, and how do people who say Finks actually exist? And yes, I was here for all of it.

I included Ireland because I consider him the de facto GM since Loomis isn’t a scout/personnel type of GM. I didn’t include anyone pre-Finks because . . . well, look at the records.
Jim Finks and it's really not close. Everything we experience now started with the changes in culture and talent from his era. Had he not died of cancer, the Saints would have won a Superbowl much, much sooner. He really could do it all.

The quality of our drafts has dramatically improved since Ireland came on board with the SAINTS. Prior to Ireland players came and went. But Ireland has made his mark on the SAINTS by spotting talented players.
Ireland/Payton/Loomis = Talent/Schemes/Financial

Maybe change GM to player personnel chief...definitely Ireland and it is really not close....
