Who ARE Rams fans these days? (2 Viewers)

Ok. I'm going to be the bad guy here and stick up for Rams fans. What where they supposed to do? Attend games for a team they didn't have? That's like saying the first year the Hornets moved here someone calling you a band wagoner for suddenly cheering for them. Well yeah i didn't give a crap about the Charlotte Hornets! Now the New Orleans Hornets that's a different story.

Their average attendance has been the following since getting to LA:

2016: 83,164
2017: 63,392
2018: 72,430

That's with playing in a stadium that was built in 1923.

3 year average: 72,996
Saints 3 year average: 73,100

Agree. They are a very good team right now with a long history and there is no reason to question the passion or quantity of their fans. I don’t want to insult them. I just want to make them cry on this particular Sunday.

The Rams were in L.A. for over 50 years.

I know, it's a foreign concept to people on here, but I'm pretty sure they really do have fans. We've seen games this year where they do have fans in the crowds. They sure didn't get overrun by Dallas fans in that playoff game.

How come no one ever talks about the Chargers not having a fan base in L.A.? I swear, the Chargers have more fans on this forum and on the internet in general than they do in L.A. (LOL, look at all the people who were picking them to make the SB). They had a winning season this year, yet their stadium was overrun in just about every game against a team with a fan base who travels well. Pull up that Broncos game from this year and look at the crowd; it was a sea of orange. They couldn't even get fans to show up against Baltimore, as that crowd was black and purple all the way through.

Seems to me that the Rams actually do have fans, but have a poor stadium at the moment with the Coliseum. That stadium is just not well equipped for an NFL game and fans have been talking about the poor experience there going back to 2016. The Chargers on the other hand don't have a fan base and that is including their estranged fan base up in San Diego that couldn't care less anymore.

And that is in a stadium that only holds 27,000 people. It'll be really interesting to see what happens when they move in with the Rams in 2020.

I can guarantee you that a new stadium isn't going to change anything. Just more opportunities for sell outs to attend the game to upload pics on their lil social media accounts.

So we've established that LA residents don't want to be bothered with traffic when attending an NFL game. What else keeps them away? Long concession lines? Loud noises?
It keeps some away, it obviously doesn't keep them all away.

By the way, the main reason I don't like to go to games is because of the loudness. It's the same reason I don't like concerts, but you just keep on looking down on everyone from your pedestal.

There are some Rams fans here. However, you are right to ask. Southern California is so heavily populated, with most of that being from somewhere else that those people who have moved here still remain loyal to the teams that represent where they moved from. Like me. Been out here 30 years but still love the Saints. You have a very fragmented NFL fanbase here. You will see a lot of Bear fans. Packers as well. I would venture to say the Raider fans are a plurality. Then you got the Cowboys with a big following too. Just today, I saw someone with an Indianapolis Colts license plate.
Most of the people in LA were born here. They may have only been here for one generation, but they were born here. A friend of mine from Kent, Ohio is a big Browns fan. His teenage son who was born here is a big Rams fan.

My bro-in-law is a Rams fan and was one when they were in St. Louis.

There are probably a lot of old Rams fans who don't want to admit it but still root for them despite the moving.

Actually, 35% of LA county is actually foreign born. As in from another country. You're not going to suggests that <15% of LA county is actually transplants from other states. No way. Southern Cal is mostly transplants. Unless you've got a census report that suggests otherwise.

If you lived here and understood the logistics of going to a game in downtown Los Angeles versus New Orleans, you'd understand there are some reasons. Let's see what attendance looks like when the new stadium open's in it's more accessible location.

Which only serves to support everyone’s argument that they aren’t loyal. You think Saints fans would shiv two gets about accessibility? Lol.

Is it your belief that all Saints fans go to or try to go to games on a regular basis?

My father has been a Saints fan from the very beginning and he's never been inclined to go to a game.

I’m saying that if both teams had a stadium of equal size, in an equally accessable (or unaccessable) location, the New Orleans Saints would have better attendance figures than the Los Angeles Rams.
