Who are the Saints players or Coaches you have met and what was your interaction/thoughts on them? (2 Viewers)

Andy Reid - Introvert and a bit of a dork in a great way.
Eric Berry - Reserved, really nice and high emotional maturity
Tony Gonzalez - Down to earth, super nice guy and treats everyone equally
Jared Allen - Complete butt hat.

a few actors I've met

Paul Rudd - awesome guy, seems hilarious
Dave Coulier - butt hat, stay away. far away. especially if you have younger women with you.

Jake Kupp gave a talk at my church when I was about ten. He looked as big as a mountain. Nice guy, and he seemed to like talking with the gaggle of kids that surrounded him.

I meet a number during the signing portion of Greenbrier training camp, I wasnt doing the signing thing so much, so most interactions were just pleasantries, High Fives, and some selfies.....

  • However, I had a fun interaction with Zach Strief who is super humble and awesome.
  • I mentioned before how I got stuck on the wrong side of the ropes...While there I also got to talk to Trevin Wade which was cool because I too was a UnivofAz Alumni. I dont think he made the roster that year but was still super cool.
  • Lynell Hamilton was a RB that was briefly on the squad. Oddly enough he was passing through Roanoke and asked where he could watch the Saints game (back when the NFL Ticket wasnt popular outside of bars). Got to have lunch with him and enjoy the whole Saints Game with him at our table.

The real question… the only question… is how deftly do these former Saint greats order take-out… particularly when ordering food of a non-Americana variety. :run:

Oh also I think I may be personally responsible for accidentally causing Tavon Rooks to no longer be a part of the organization (a mistimed and perhaps poorly worded comment/question)?

Summer of 2018 at the airport waiting for my plane to board, saw Drew Brees walking up to the counter. Pointed him out to my then 14 year old son, whose jaw dropped. Drew happened to turn and see, and motioned offering to take a picture with my boys, which I took him up on.

Otherwise, back in the early 90’s I went to a charity basketball game between some Saints and Dolphins players and remember meeting Eric Martin and Fred McAfee.

Also met Jim Mora’s wife once, and she was a lovely woman.

ETA: Also met Pat Swilling at a meet and greet before a game — 2009 Patriots I think?

Met Mickey loomis in Green Bay this year and he was without a doubt the nicest most down to earth guy I ever met.

Met chase young on the same trip and I’d get banned if I gave my honest opinion of him.

Met Sean and he was pretty cool but standoffish.

Drew was cool but pretty overwhelmed when I met him.

Met Drew Brees the year our Saints won the Super Bowl. They had just finished mini-camp and CSP had the whole team go on a scavenger hunt in the CBD and French Quarter. I was travelling into work and saw CSP jumping into a car ahead of me. The next thing I knew, there was a person banging on my window to follow that car. It was Drew Brees. And so did an entire news crew. I drove him about two blocks. When he saw CSP get out of the car ahead of me, Drew jumped out as well. But, he signed my Saints cap that was sitting on my dashboard.

Also met Garrett Hartley at a Pels game with my two boys. Super nice guy.

Met Morten Andersen at F&M's, nice guy.

Met Cam Jordan and his family, including his Dad and Mom at Gordon Biersch. Really super guy. Could not be nicer.

Met Rickey Jackson and JJ McClesky, really genuinely nice men.

They are not players or coaches, but I met Tom and Gayle Benson. Truly people with grace and generosity. Also, briefly met Rita Benson LeBlanc, and she was nice as well.

Oh my god. More than I can say.

I’ve met every Saints head coach starting at Mora. I was maybe 8 or 9 when I met him, and my childhood takeaway was “I bet he’s a great dad”

Met Ditka at his live studio show. It seemed like something he felt he had to do. My family members appeared to like talking to him but for the occasions over his three years which I’d be dragged to the show, usually for not having a sitter available, I got “he wishes he was at happy hour” vibes.

I met Haslett the day after I graduated high school. Quick hi-bye, wished the team success after how the previous season ended, off we went. Too quick to really form an opinion of him from that interaction.

Sean Payton was warm & friendly, and didn’t feel so in a corporate media-trained way that some guys can be. This was at a benefit through a non-profit here in 2009. I met Dennis Allen & Gregg Williams the same year at different city events, maybe GW was 2010, but definitely all three around that time.

Through United Way and other childhood/K-12 enrichment programs I was involved in, I’ve met several dozen Saints players. Many were the hi-bye-thanks for the autograph types, but others were at “meet the players, past and present” type of events where I actually got to say sentences to them. These range from PJ Franklin & Marvin Powell III (3 combined career touches) to Rickey Jackson & Willie Roaf (Hall-of-Famers). I have friends who used to and currently date Saints players and behind-the-scenes folks. I’ve waited on players and players’ families who hid (or didn’t hide) their relation to players.

In a similar vein and one of my favorite experiences just living here, I was on a date at a pretty well-known restaurant in town (ain’t dere no mo’) when a player who was from the area had arrived with his family for a celebratory dinner, as the player was recently elevated from his team’s practice squad to active and a game in the Superdome was coming up. Nearly 20 people wearing either his pro or college jersey, or shirts with his name on them. I know they were excited to see him play live on the biggest stage, even if the game itself didn’t carry much in the way of stakes.

I’ve only encountered one Saints player who was kinda a jerk. Details are in that thread, don’t feel like retyping it lol

My aunty lived across the street from Bennie Thompson in New Orleans East. I only met him once when she introduced me to him when he got home from a practice. He just simply waived and said hello. My aunty said he was really nice to them.
You were probably neighbors with my uncle. They knew Bennie & his family too.

Met Ricky Jackson at a signing . Very nice guy. He signed my saints mini helmet and took pictures with myself and wife and granddaughter.
Met Joe Horn in Slidell when he was promoting his BBQ sauce.
He signed a bottle for me.

I used to send cards to different players for autographs and most of them signed them and sent them back. Joe Horn signed his Hollywood Joe Horn and sent one to Sammy Knight and he sent back a totally different card, but he did sign it.
