Ty Law
Randall Gay
Landon Johnson

Those are 3 solid starters (exception to Gay, maybe).

Landon Johnson is the one guy that I would really like to see us go after but I have yet to see any indication we are even interested. Then again none of the chatter up until now has even been close

i may overlooked other posts, but has there been any chatter about colvin?

Ahh Roosevelt Colvin. A broken down defender that hasn't produced in years. We'll pursue because he won't demand much.....I think he fits Loomis's criteria.

Say no to all the RFA and the remaining trades, keep the picks...sign Gay, DE Laboy, OLB Colvin, resign TEs Billy Miller and Johnson, resing WR Patten...and go for the draft.

This seams reasonable, but I hope the Saints seriously pursue Lito S. additionally for a 3rd this year and maybe a low pick next year.

Yeah there is some guys...here's some more guys from the other posters list...on the D side.

DT:
Kindal Moorehead (Panthers)- Can play DE, and we went after him.
William Joseph (Giants)- Injured last year, but is considered a BUST.

DE: Aside from McCray/Laboy
Corey Smith (Lions)- Undersized pass-rusher.

LB:
Landon Johnson (Bengals)- Can play MLB and WLB, very young and productive.
Victor Hobson (Jets)- Played WLB for them as pretty good.
Chaun Thompson (Browns)- MLB/WLB, who just hasn't gotten playing time.
Boss Bailey (Lions)- WLB, who is pretty quick but injury prone.
Brandon Chillar (Rams)- A pretty good SLB for them
Naill Diggs (Panthers)- An alright player.
Teddy Lehman (Lions)- Productive his rookie season.
Caleb Miller (Bengals)- Productive in 06'.
Keyaron Fox (Chiefs)- Young LB'er and a WLB.

CB: We know about Gay.
William James (Eagle)- We went after him last year, is a reliable corner.
Travis Fisher (Rams)- Started for Lions in 07'.
Gary Baxter (Browns)- Has loads of talent but is always injured.
Frank Walker (Packers)- Depth guy.

S:
Eugene Wilson (Pats)- Productive his rookie season.
Chris Crocker (Falclowns)- Depth guy.
Keith Davis (Cowoys)- Saints went after him before...ST guy.

Again. The Saints are searching the scrap heap trying to find a nugget. Same front office, different day.

amen.

and i really believed we were going to land Briggs

The Saints break your heart every year.

A name that I was always interested in is Ben Utecht, TE, Indianapolis.

I think a lot of people forget that he was a 1st round prospect before injuring himself, and he has looked like a nice player whenever he's gotten on the field for Indy. He's a decent blocker, a good route runner and a big body - three things that makes him a good fit for us as we don't ask all that much from our TE. I'd like to see an offensive hole or two addressed before we head on into the draft as well, so I think Utecht might be a good investment, provided he doesn't get too big of a tender.

For those of you unhappy, please give this a read. I disagree with the OP statement about Deuce. Remember Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes? Every thing worth note that they did was after tearing an ACL in each knee, only seperated by a few years. In 2006, Deuce got over 1000yds on very limited carries, with a 4.6 rpc average, in a pass happy offense, splitting time with Reggie. Last year the Oline, WR's, Drew, the coaches playcalling, and the defense all put Deuce in a very poor position to succeed. Deuces knee will be stronger, his leg will be stronger than before his injury. It is common for a RB to tear both ACL's with the seperation of a few years becuase of over compensation and making the repaired leg much stronger than the one that wasn't injured. That said, I am very happy with the job Loomis is doing. Read that link and you will know why.

  • Antwaan Odom DE
  • Travis LaBoy DE
  • <strike>Calvin Pace LB/DE </strike> - Most likely headed to Miami or Denver
  • Max Starks OT
  • Maurice Williams OT/OG
  • Landon Johnson LB
  • Rod Coleman DT
  • DJ Hackett WR
  • Randle Gay CB
  • Andre Dyson CB
  • Dominique Foxworth CB - RFA, 3rd Rounder
  • Fernando Bryant CB
  • Ty Law CB
  • Victor Hobson LB
  • Demorio Williams LB

Those are just a few of the top names that I believe could come in and make an immediate positive impact.
