I had never realized that Hughes made just about every movie that we consider quintessential 80s until I read Ready Player Two. He also conceived Mr Mom when he was the one keeping his kids every day

Its part of his psychosis, which is why as he gets older his traps get more insidious and before you know it he's asking people "Do you want to play a game".

Kevin grows up to be Jigsaw. That's my theory. Saw and Home Alone are in the same movie universe.
