When you think of the situation SP inherited coming off of Katrina and bringing in a QB post-major surgery, nothing he was given was a sure thing. He had to prove he was the right choice as HC (spiting GB) as much as Drew wanted to prove Miami/Saban and anyone else that they were wrong about him. Sean slowly built a culture of winning that we weren’t used to and now our anger at this franchise is because we see it rapidly slipping away and they won’t do anything about it.

Dennis hasn’t proven anything as an HC and this is his 2nd stint. Giving him a pass on last year was one thing, but the inconsistencies were still front and center this year to address early on and management didn’t. Coming off a bye to lose to our most hated rival should have been the bell toll for him. Maybe Detroit needs to embarrass us before anything moves but I doubt it highly.
The situation Payton inherited is probably the worst.
The Saints were basically an expansion team during the offseason of ‘05.

This gets repeated way too often here and it couldn’t be further from the truth. There are only 32 of these jobs, and most young coaches are thrilled at the prospect of ANY HC offer they land, especially when you factor in the life-changing money involved.

Now, if it’s a situation where the guy has more than one firm offer to choose from, which is more rare than many realize, then sure he may look at all of those factors. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to can they land an offer, and if so, is the money right.

I couldn't agree more......is our current situation any worse when we hired CSP after Katrina....I hardly think so.....

You can't find the next great young head coach if you aren't even looking......

We need an offensive minded coach who is willing to ride out at least two years of Carr's contract due to the salary cap problems. Gruden has already been sniffing around the Saints facility and has coached Carr. Gruden also has an agenda with the league office and that might be something the Saints want to entertain.

Ben Johnson, the Lions' offensive coordinator, reminds me of a young Sean Payton. A coach like that is going to want his own quarterback.

Eric Bieniemy was born in New Orleans (lived here until he was around 10 until moving to California) tutored under Andy Reid.

I am hoping for Johnson or Bieniemy but given the Carr anchor I can see how they might go with Chuckie.

If Allen or Carmichael is still here season tickets sales will plummet. They have to make a move.
Truth is this team should have never traded for an extra first round pick from the Eagles, that was the bridge too far for me. To do that with Jameis Winston as the QB was just arrogant. That was the end of the empire.

I would be fine with Ben J or Bieniemy......but not Gruden, he is overrated and not sure the Saints FO should even consider him given the issues you referenced....

I really feel that Flores would be a really good fit for this team, even though I'd probably prefer an offensive HC. There is an integrity and toughness about him I like. I also think that there are some rifts on the team that he might be able to bridge that other coaches couldn't.

I voted for Ben Johnson.
I think that fresh blood would energize our team and fanbase.

Of all of the candidates, I feel like Harbaugh would bring the most drama.

That's a good point. God knows we need less drama around here.

Give Jim Harbaugh a 10-year deal with some options mixed in giving the team some outs if the success is not there. We won't have to worry about being soft or having a weak offensive line. The defense would also be good since he would hire a DC that would match the O's mentality.

Steve Wilkes, he coached at Carolina so he already hates the Failclowns, and Yucs, and since the Panthers shafted him, he'll want to get even with them too. Plus, he is a good motivator and had them playing well when he was their interim. Not to mention, he's just a good coach, he has the SF D playing pretty good, I think he would handle the D and find a good OC to delegate the O to.

I have a name that I think would check a lot of boxes:

Joe Brady

*Familiar with the organization and culture
*Could excite a Louisiana fan base
*Has experience with the players that are still here from 2017-2018
*Was on the fast track before he was Matt Rhuled
*Could build on concepts and terminology that the young receivers already know
*Is widely believed to have the temperament/personality for the job

He's awfully green but scared money don't make money.
No! Joe Brady has done nothing on his own. His only successful season was when he had Steve Ensminger calling the plays as his OC. He's been living off the coattail of that season ever since.

Harbough is going to want to run the whole show, I don't see Loomis going for that.

So...you're of the mindset that we shouldn't have drafted players to help Jameis Winston because he's Jameis Winston and a lesser QB?

there's been some funky logic in the world (not just you) lately
