Whole Foods countersues pastor who claimed he was offended by slur (1 Viewer)

Ok can someone clear this up? Why is it important that that label was on top of the cake. To me that would cover the offending word making his story at least plausible.

Because on the picture he took, after the fact with the offensive word, the label was not on top. Kind of proves the guy tampered with it.

Jordan Brown has acknowledged that Whole Foods did nothing wrong, apologized, and withdrawn his suit. Whole Foods, in turn, has dropped its counter-suit.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The lawsuit against Whole Foods for writing a gay slur on a cake has been withdrawn.

Jordan Brown apologized to the company for using “the media to perpetuate this story.” He said the company did nothing wrong and he wants to apologize for questioning their values, and the bakery associate he accused in the lawsuit.

In light of Brown’s apology Whole Foods has decided to drop their counter-suit. A spokesperson said “We’re very pleased that the truth has come to light. Given Mr. Brown’s apology and public admission that his story was a complete fabrication, we see no reason to move forward with our counter suit.”

Brown also apologized for diverting attention away from “real” LGBTQ issues. He ended his statement apologizing to his partner, family, church, and attorney.

Thanks for the update, David.

Can we just call the guy a liar? The headlines are so careful to emphasize he withdrew his lawsuit. This is another SJW concoction to push an agenda.

Isn't that the headline? That he withdrew his suit and admits that Whole Paycheck did nothing wrong? Are you just mad that the headline doesn't read: "Lying ****** Pastor Withdraws Suit; Acknowledges no Wrongdoing on Whole Paycheck's Part."?

It isn't the headline.

Glad he has admitted what everyone knew all along anyway.

thou shall not bear false witness against thy fairly overpriced though socially conscious though not socially perfect boutiquish grocer

I'm thinking most of that was inscribed on the back, or on a separate tablet

Do businesses drop suits like this because they figure the loser has nothing to pay, anyway? And they figure that their legal costs would be hundreds of thousands of dollars more?

Yes, I think that's a big part of it. There's no point in paying hourly fees pursuing claims against someone of limited ability to pay a judgment. But also, a corporation like Whole Foods doesn't need to win a case like that - they have been vindicated (if there was ever any doubt) by this man's public admission that it didn't happen. They just want it to go away as a ridiculous matter initiated by an unstable person . . . and the best way to do that is to drop it and forget about it.
