Why are people down on rattler ?! (4 Viewers)

There are a few emotionally-charged, irrational posts flying around, but the vast majority of the board still support him and understand his situation.

Im pretty sure the emotionally charged people support him too and want to see what our assets are worth before we go back to Chopping wood. Maybe we can open a quarry too....

he is not the starter.. he is the substitute... it will not hurt his career to see Haener start. Whether I am emotional or not... everything I have posted is backed up with logic. Haener makes adjustments, Rattler just runs the play. Plane and simple.

So you trust Dennis Allen.... understood.

Everyone wants to get rid of him... but we sure trust his decision making.
Thats a total red herring argument and has nothing to do with Rattler. It wouldn’t have mattered if they had chosen Haener first. In this situation you stick with it from a development standpoint. It’s crazy to pull him after 2 games in 5 days when he didn’t implode. He met that impossible challenge as well as I think anyone could have imagined. Now you see if he can build on it.

The funny thing is that I actually want to see Haener succeed. He’s from the town next over from where I am and his mom was our local TV news anchor for 20+ years. I thought it was awesome that we drafted him. I just don’t think it’s smart football to throw him in now.

It's not crazy, he got hurt. We saw Haener against the same pressure, and he exploited the pressure. EXPLOITED THE BLITZ. Rattler ran for his life from the blitz. It is not going to hurt his development... that is a silly argument.

You want to talk about silly arguments. Yours is even more off the deep end than people who wanted to keep Teddy Bidgewater after he came in for relief of Brees. Haener came in mid drive at the 47 yard line and made a few throws, good throws, while being down 33-3. Every single one of them out of the shotgun. The game was already over.

I don't care if they give Haener a start and frankly given how bad the OL is and with no WRs I'm not sure how much this playing time is helping Rattler's development vs. hurting it. Anyway, it's not at all surprising that Haener is making adjustment Rattler isn't since Haener is a second year player who has had two offseason to learn how to be an NFL QB. Rattler hasn't had that. My only question is whether giving Rattler more starts helps his development or helps the organization figure out if he can be the guy or if they need to draft another young QB this year or next year? That, IMO, is more important than maybe pumping up Haener's trade value by giving him a start.

and in my opinion I want to know if he is the starter of the future.... before he goes the Panthers or Falcons. I do not trust Dennis Allen.

So seeing a QB make adjustments at the line to exploit the defense is a silly argument... after watching a QB say HIKE and run for his life for nearly two full games........ ooooooooooooooooook.

Yall can give up on the season. I am not.

You actually sound hysterical. This isn’t that big of a deal. The team has seen A LOT more of Haener than they have of Rattler. They have two years of practice tape. They still made the determination that Rattler practiced better than Haener and are running with him right now. Nobody was ever saying that Haener was a 1st round talent with question marks. He was drafted where he was supposed to be drafted.

This season is done. We’re 2-5 and decimated. We’re getting a look at a guy who was once seen as a 1st round talent that slipped. He may not figure it out, but we have to see if he can. If he crashes and burns, then we’ll know. But he hasn’t done that. He’s played reasonably well under the circumstances. You have to see if he can improve. Not just over 5 days with the practice squad team, but with a normal looking schedule and with a few more starters.

You disagree and that’s cool. But it isn’t unreasonable to play Rattler more than 5 days worth of games.

No body ever said tom brady... blah blah blah... who gives a crap where they were "could have been drafted?" what matters is winning today. Not seeing what Rattler can do with live fire baptism. We need to win today. Putting someone that can't recognize a blitz in with a Oline that can't stop a 4 man rush is irresponsible to the success of the team and to the development of a ROOKIE QB. Everyone claims Allen can't lead, yet "they determined he gave us the best chance to win" Yea..... riiiight....

crazy... i am listening to this right now... and time stamped just at the perfect time.... I agree.. he might not succeed..... but he gives us the best chance. Ok, I'm done. I have "professional" backing. Imagine what Rattler can do next season with a year of practice in the NFL....... Imagine winning this season..... so crazy, I get it. Hysterical.

DA isn't going away no matter how much you want to freak out about it. He's here despite a 5 game losing streak and he's staying this year and probably next year too. It's not what we want, but it's what we have. And just because he makes a decision doesn't mean that the opposite of that decision is the right one. If this team (DA, Loomis, and Kubiak) thinks that Rattler has the most long term potential at QB then he's the guy to keep playing. Especially during what is looking like a lost season. They aren't calling it that, but it's obvious at this point. Nobody is talking about playoffs anymore. We're talking about surviving the season and seeing what we have in our rookie QB.

I highly doubt he is, but one game before Carr comes back isn't going to tell us that. I'd personally much rather see Rattler get more experience, especially if Ruiz is back.

And frankly, last week on a really short week with no time to change things or prepare while having no interior OL and no WRs wasn't really a situation where you can get any information on Rattler. I really want to see what he can do and what he can change when he gets 10 days to look at what he did and try to figure out how to fix it.

I have accepted this. DA is here for as long as DA wants I do not care about DA. I want Loomis gone, but that is never going to happen so I don't care about the front office any more.

I want to win. All want is to have the best chance to win. We just played two games with a 5% chance when we could have had a 15% chance. I'd rather take the chance. All it sounds like you want is to fully support DA and keep doing what we are doing. And guess what no matter what anyone does this season.... If we get a shot at a "good" QB in the Draft we take them too.
