Why is it everyone is treating the missed field goal like we would of lost (1 Viewer)

Personally, I thought they stood a better chance going for 2 than they would playing overtime. #NoGuts

The way the game had gone that is what I thought they would do.

I still wasn't too worried even if he made it. We still had 24 seconds and 2 timeouts. For Drew, that's like 10 minutes.

I was banking on this more than anything. I figured we would move down the field and Lutz would kick a 52 yard field goal as time expired. Then we could've really thanked Harbaugh for him.

Um, there were 24 seconds left in regulation. Drew would’ve EASILY got 35 yards in 24 seconds to set up our kicker, Lutz never misses.
You're missing about ... idk... 20 yards.

The wind was at our back in the 4th quarter. Lutz would have been good from 74 yards! :hihi:

What an ending that would have been! Another NFL record falling from a guy you got from the Ravens! (I can dream, can't I?)

You must have missed the 45 yard return?
It was as useful an example as any other.
Your fantasy is every bit as effective on the teams/fans performance as not washing your "lucky socks".
Sometimes the attitude smells about the same.

Most people on this board are arm chair quarterbacks and only good game is a Saints Victory with a score like 45-13 and all their favorite players fill the stat sheets.

Baltimore is a very good team, a very tough team and we went on the road and played their game...run game, tough defense and made every possession count...we beat Baltimore at their own game and their Kicker helped seal the victory for us.

This is absolutely, 100% correct. To go into their house and sneak out the bathroom window like that was huge. You notice that most of the end of game magic like this happens to good teams? It's because good teams put themselves into position for that kind of magic to happen. They fought like hell to get that win. They earned that win.

If you want to be Debbie Downer and say we only won because of a missed PAT then tell the whole story and mention the 3 points we should've had from the opening drive.

I’m not so sure he would have felt “thanked”
had this happened. Another word does come to mind, though. :hihi:

They can also try being down 23-0 when the other team misses a PAT, and if the league awards us the win anyway, then its true that we ONLY won because of the missed PAT. But somehow I don’t think they would do that for us, maybe for NE or Dallas, but not for us. So, i can’t subscribe to the fact that we only won because of a lucky missed kick, I think scoring more points than the other team had more to do with it. His missed kick didn’t give us 24 points.
