FA Will the Saints Bring in a Veteran FA CB Before Training Camp? (2 Viewers)

These are the CB's besides Lattimore that we have on the roster at the current time.
Ken Crawley- Has been the number 2 before. Lost his confidence, maybe he gets it back with Richard.
P.J. Williams- which he is now playing more of a safety role. Doesn't have the hip flip to play on the boundary.
Patrick Robinson- Better playing the slot than he was on the outside, but can play in a pinch. I think he has lost some speed.
Grant Haley- Had one lucky INT last season. Other than that was mostly a special teamer and on the practice squad.
Keith Washington- All we know is he had a good camp and ended up on the practice squad. Would really like to see what he can do this season.
Paulson Adebo- 3rd round pick, still a little raw, an unknown at this point. still needs some coaching and mentoring.
Bryce Thompson- Undrafted Rookie and an unknown.
Lawrence Woods- another undrafted rookie and an unknown.

Most of these guys will need to go through training camp and pre-season just to see if they can make the roster or if they can even make the practice squad. So y'all tell me who on the list of FA's can come in and be better than most of who we have on our current roster.

For the past couple of weeks, I've been hearing numerous sources from Mike Triplett, Larry Holder, After Further Review from YouTube, and even Mike DetilIier (which IMO gives us nearly the accurate reports about the Saints), AND basically right now we're just trying to extend either Marcus Williams, Ryan Ramczyk or possibly both between now til the first preseason game, where Lattimore will get an extension next year. It's all about the waiting game, at this point. Also, according to Mike Detillier, we are still very interested in Richard Sherman.

By the way, Josh Norman can kick rocks. He had a chance to sign with us in the past before he chose the Washington Football Team and since then he had done nothing but becoming extremely irrelevant where thankfully we dodged another potential Jarius Bryd screw up

Very intrigued about Richard as our secondary coach. He did wonders in Seattle, but that was a while ago. I hope he will bring back that type of aggressive DB nature to our secondary. I also like the pick of Adebo. I am hopeful that he return to his style of playing when he was a stud at Stanford. He was a ball hawk there. Richard may be helpful in getting him back to that style of play.

If not, I hope we get Breeland.

I find Gareon Conley to be the most intriguing possibility at this point... He’s still young, has 1st round pedigree, and could join a defense with other Ohio St alums. It could be ideal for him to realize his upside
He is one of my choices to bring in. I really think that Richard could work wonders with him. If not him I wouldn't mind Breeland or Sherman.

Maybe not before, but I can definitely see that happening once rosters are trimmed down.

I know some of us would like to bring in someone because we are very thin at CB and I'm in that group that would like to bring somebody in. But this all hinges on what the Saints think their value is and who fits our defensive scheme. Before they can bring someone in we will need to extend either Ram, Lattimore, Armstead or Williams to create the cap space we need.

I wish verrett was still available. He’s still a good corner when he plays

Like Underhill said in his podcast, Gareon Conley has the best chance, of any of the current group of FA CBs, to develop further and become a long-term starting CB.

mom the downside, he could realistically get beat-out by Ken Crawley or Adebo for the starting job opposite Latt.

When Apple came in, part of his ease into the system was the communication and help due to other Ohio guys. Things started to gel pretty quickly. There is something to that and I don't think Conley has hit a ceiling.

Pretty good assessments, especially PJ and PR. PR has lost some speed, but I think his overall technique has improved. I wouldn't be elated with PR at corner but think Richard can raise the bar a bit and with a more aggressive, simpler defense PR and/or Crawley could man an outside as long as we have good communication and bit better scheme/reaction in the safety positions. I am interested in Adebo's development.
