With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (119 Viewers)

Again, neither would have helped this year. Fuaga didn’t make the line great and didn’t stop us from losing 12 games. Guys like Bowers are super star building blocks for the future. You have to get them and are more valuable in today’s NFL than fat guys. The only thing more valuable than super star offensive play makers are franchise QBs. That’s the point. Draft fat guys from rounds 3 on…. Get superstar offensive players and franchise QBs in rounds 1 and 2.

The best teams in the NFL fall to pieces when the lose their all world playmakers…. But seem to survive a fat guy being out for a while. It’s not coincidence. It’s points.
I get what you are saying, but I tend to lean more building the foundation. If you have a great line, then you run and pass protect better. A good Dline makes the CBs better. It's just everyone has a different philosophy. Honestly this year, I don't care where they go first because we need so much. Just not DE though and QB. They can't hardly pick a DE to save their life.

All that is true and we have tons of equity already invested in those positions over the last 5 seasons.

If you don’t score points none of it matters. Who are you blocking for…. How tired are you on defense because the offense can’t catch a pass to extend a drive?

Today’s NFL foundation is build on the Franchise QB and All World offensive weapon.

We had a guy come off the street this year and play Center for us…. Ya know what changed before he got here and after he left?

Nothing. Nothing changed

I would very seriously doubt it will be Jeanty. I like him, but he couldn't have run behind this line. Got to fix some other areas first.

So good players will always be there in the next draft where the Saints need them? If you have a chance to get a good player, you don't pass unless you want to be picking in the top 10 year after year.

I watched a lot of Jeanty against my team twice (UNLV) and he wasn’t Superman like many are thinking. He’d be hard pressed to be good behind our line.
While I don’t necessarily disagree that he would have struggles like any other top talent at RB would behind our “current” OL. We definitely need an upgrade at OG and McCoy needs to stay healthy.

He went for 220+ yards and a touchdown this year in the conference championship vs UNLV. Played through an injury in the first game this year and still had 139 yards and a touchdown. He also had 168 yards and a touchdown last year against UNLV. Over 500 yards and 3 touchdowns in his last 3 games vs UNLV isn’t so bad lol.

The dude is a legit superstar talent at RB. Whether we should go RB that high is another question.

All good points, and my point was more how bad my football team is…and how terrible the mountain west is..I get your point too tho.

Iirc he was shut down when they played a “real” defense. I think it was Penn State?

I think he will be a very good NFL running back, just think we need help all over. I’m good with the pick if they think he’s BPA at 9. Even tho I never like to see a RB taken in the first round, especially not top ten.

Remember when Infoman said he wanted us to draft Gibbs in the first round…. And all the same parrots had the same posts we see now?

Yeah you do…

You think the Lions wish they had not taken a RB so high in *gasp* the first round?

No you don’t ….

We do this every year and every year I get to do the I told you so dance.

I get where you're coming from. And I don't necessarily think we go tackle in the first this year. And guard you don't pick high. So WR, if he's there, get him. I just don't Jeanty is worth #9. And past the Arizona WR, not sure what's out there for that high of a pick. Me personally, I would take the Michigan Dlineman if he's there.

A franchise QB is what you want. None available in 2025 plus you can’t move on from Carr in 2025. Trade back for 2026. Question was is 2026 a better draft? Who knows let’s find out. Because if you think 2025 is like 2006 your not paying attention.

1) Will Johnson- day one starter/ pro bowler
2) Abdul Carter- premier pass rusher
3) Mason Graham- makes the run defense better and will elevate breese and the entire defense line.

-if the saints are able to bring back young on a decent deal, I’d flip Carter and Graham. Also like the combo of Carter and someone like Kenneth Grant/Deone Walker in the later rounds. Rebuilding the D line should be a priority and OGs can be had in the mid rounds.

Like what? We get a guard early in the draft and get another guard in free agency and we could be an excellent running team overnight

I mean we simply could have taken Achane instead of Miller in the 3rd round and likely nobody is having a conversation about the Saints taking a RB in this draft.
