With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (6 Viewers)

"Running backs have short careers more often than not and are injury prone. "
Exactly....we have been lucky to have kamara as long as we have. I think this coming season will be his decline era. And we don't have anyone else.
No faith in Miller and CEH? Both young and if CEH can overcome his PTSD he may still be good. IMO.

Giants blocked FG cost us pick 6 only if we had the tie breakers against 4 other teams 4-13

We definitely need a guard. Really need two of em.

Unless one of the 2 can catch a back shoulder throw in the end zone while getting 2 feet down…. Or turn a screen play into a house call…. Need is a strong word.

This team needs to score points consistently to have any chance of competing on a regular basis anytime soon.

You have no chance of doing that when your top 3 backs are either 30 + years old or perpetually unavailable or both…. And your top WRs weigh a buck fifty and are one hit away from the ambulance…. And your best TE is actually a QB…. Or RB…. Or FB…. Or wait…. He’s in that first group I mentioned…. What was the question?

Oh yeah…. I like points.

We are in agreement Info lol. I’m just saying the whole team is devoid of talent and that it goes hand in hand (o line giving the space and time) for offensive playmakers.

I do not disagree with you at all, I just think we need help all over the field. Truly the weakest (talent wise) team we’ve fielded in a very long time imo.

I’ve been stating that Chris and Rasheed will never be able to stay healthy, for the longest. And I’m a huge Shaheed fan, love the guy. We have the worst receiver room in the NFL. Definitely need help there. I’d rather have the Arizona receiver with the first pick than Jeanty.

I watched a lot of Jeanty against my team twice (UNLV) and he wasn’t Superman like many are thinking. He’d be hard pressed to be good behind our line.

We also have one TE, who’s average, at best. Foster. We need help there too. I think Johnson is a FA and hope he’s gone.

It’s not hyperbole to state that the team needs help at almost every position.

No doubt…. But first and foremost they are in need of transformational players. Guys that come in and change the trajectory of the team. It’s the same argument I made last year when we took Fuaga and missed out on Bowers. Neither guy was going to make us a contender this year…. But at least Bowers is a point scorer that you can build and transform your offense around down the road. I like Fuaga, but he’s not transforming the team or offense. Which is where I would always spend my high picks. Guys that make the other team lose sleep at night.

The same people that always want us to draft a DE DT or OT with the first pick are the same people that didn’t like the Bush pick in 2006.

But the Saints have had such poor success at drafting DEs in the first round, I'd rather they pick a kicker than DE.
True dat. I’ve also said that it matters not where we pick if we mess it up. I sincerely hope whomever has been in charge of picking our edges is gone, or at least not allowed to make the pick this next draft.

And then complain when the QB doesn't have time to get him the ball. Trust me, I wanted Bowers too. But he would've been wasted here right now. If we hadn't had Fuaga over there, then who would you have?

Can’t argue that. I just hope whomever we pick is a good pick. Good player who can stay on the field.
I would very seriously doubt it will be Jeanty. I like him, but he couldn't have run behind this line. Got to fix some other areas first.
💯. Against my vaunted Runnin’ Rebels defense (sarcasm) he was human. Twice.

On that note, I’m happy with Fuaga and very happy with Penning being even halfway salvageable on the right side. Thankful.

Again, neither would have helped this year. Fuaga didn’t make the line great and didn’t stop us from losing 12 games. Guys like Bowers are super star building blocks for the future. You have to get them and are more valuable in today’s NFL than fat guys. The only thing more valuable than super star offensive play makers are franchise QBs. That’s the point. Draft fat guys from rounds 3 on…. Get superstar offensive players and franchise QBs in rounds 1 and 2.

The best teams in the NFL fall to pieces when the lose their all world playmakers…. But seem to survive a fat guy being out for a while. It’s not coincidence. It’s points.
