NFL Draft WR Xavier Restrepo (10 Viewers)

Why not both? :idunno:

As you may have mentioned once or twice, this team just needs playmakers all over the field.

It does... But we are talking about someone who's strictly a slot WR that will go in round 2 (maybe late 1st)... If we are going to spend premium picks on pass catches... It better be a Big X and an every down TE... Not a slot player.

That would be ideal, but if the big X or every down TE aren't on the board at the right value, I think you still take a guy like Restrepo. You can figure out later how he fits into the group of WRs you have. And I'm not sure we keep Olave long term and both Olave and Shaheed might be better used as deep threats and playmaker WRs. I'm also not sure you want to put him in the slot to take hits given his concussion issues.

Beyond that, some of this depends on what kind of WRs the new OC wants for his system. I suspect that Restrepo would be a good fit for what Kingsbury wants to do for instance.

We need both, and we definitely need a TE that can dominate those inside routes. We have missed so many yards in the middle of the field since Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham, Lance Moore.
agree 100%

Agree. Restrepo seems more like a luxury pick for a team that is already set at X.

The thing is that we aren't really set at any WR position outside of two guys that are probably more #2 WRs or just deep threats. Neither Olave nor Shaheed are really big enough to consistently play the slot and neither is an X. So we have a need in the Slot that Restrepo could fill. But, it really depends on what scheme we run.

I wouldnā€™t mind the pick. I think we need to operate like Olave and Shaheed arenā€™t available because theyā€™re always injured. I am also starting to think Olave walks after his deal is up too so we have a big need at WR. Restrepo would help but Iā€™d just prefer someone who can line up outside too.

After seeing what Kingsbury has done in Washington Iā€™d be ecstatic to have him. I do wonder tho how much of that is Daniels and not Kliff.

I watched every game this season, at least parts of, that young man is a star. First Iā€™d ever seen him and I am a believer. We donā€™t have a Daniels lol.

Daniels clearly has a world of talent and I frankly always thought he was the best QB in the class, but I'm also an LSU fan so it can sometimes be hard to be objective about LSU players.

But, I do think Kliff has done a good job with getting him ready to be as good as he already is. In addition, he developed Mahomes at Texas Tech and he turned Murray into a solid QB so he has the skins on the wall for QB development. Might be interesting to see what he can do with Rattler or another young QB for that matter.

*Disclaimer* Yes I am an Ole Miss fan, but the only receiver I really have my eyes on for our Saints is Tre Harris. Dude is just a monster. He gets open, is sneaky fast and can catch the contested passes. I'm really just 7 games this past year, he had 60 catches and over 800 yards. He's just a machine. Yes a groin injury detailed his season, but he has shown durability in the past.

That has future Saints WR written all over it. šŸ˜€

Seriously, he's a good player and injuries in college don't always lead to injuries in the NFL but they would need to take a long hard look at his medicals before I would spend a high round pick. His talent certainly justifies it, but the durability is a concern.

If it's for a late 2nd rounder or lower.... I'm good with that.... If it's within the first 50 picks... disagree.

Good points. Iā€™d forgotten about Pat at Texas Tech. I wouldnā€™t be upset if he ended up being the next coach.
