yall remember this?? (1 Viewer)

As it turned out, it didn't matter. We needed help from another team (Jets?) to beat the Rams(?) and I think it was the Jets who lost at the last minute or in OT. The the whole play was, unfortunately, water inder the bridge.

As another poster said, this play captures the feeling of being a Saints fan in a nutshell!!

A total microcosm of the Saints history...

When Henderson said, "Oh my God, how could he do that?" I didn't know if he was talking about Carney or God...

The pain is overrated. (As Saintmdterps said) The team we had needed to lose to have a shot at the playoffs had already won. We were completely eliminated. Carney got us a better draft pick.

If so, then it DOES matter because if we had tied the game, and won in OT, then we WOULDN'T have needed the help most likely, just need to win and we're in.

No, we needed the team to lose AND we had to win to enter a tie breaker with the team in which we may have won.....actually, I believe it was week 16 and we needed that team to lose both games while we needed to win both. As soon as they won their game, we had no mathematical chance.

I just remember being totally depressed because the other game had ended first, and we had no shot, so as I thought the play was unbelievable, I still had this, "Who cares?" mentality....and then we missed the XP and I said, "figures."

Man.... I tell you what!!! I was living in Seattle working at a bar and grill at the time and I was watching the game as it was on in the bar... I remember thinking "Yeah, this game is over, let's see if they can pull off a miracle to put them into overtime." With 7 seconds left I thought "that would be a miracle!" I watched as Brooks took the snap and threw to stallworth who tossed to lewis who tossed to deuce who tossed crossfield to Pathon... The whole time I'm screaming "GO!GO!GO!GO!" at the top of my lungs in a Seahawks bar... Needless to say, these people had thought I had lost my mind.. but when the play was over and we were in the endzone I was doing my dance!!!:D In the next 20 seconds I lost all the repect that play had garnered for our beloved team when carney missed wide right:bawl: <--look left for results of play on yours truly. I was laughed at publicly(BY SEAHAWKS FANS!! AAAARRRGGGGHH!!!!) and it hurt.. I sure am glad that was the last game of the season

I knew what the video was gonna be of before I even clicked on it, really shocked myself when the page loaded and I was right.

I was at that game. Missed the play, and ran back just in time to see Carney miss the kick. UHHHHHHHHHHH

no...I don't remember...I blocked it out I guess.

I don't think I've ever been so dejected about something as I was with that extra point. All I can remember saying over and over was "It figures".(The greatest play I had ever seen completely smashed in seconds, Oh the pain)

Thanks. Now I have to go drink ANOTHER 5th of whiskey to forget it all over again.:9:

Man, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. I could not believe he missed that FG. Complete heartbreak. Lol imagine if that happened in the NFC Championship game...I think we would have had a few suicides in Metropolitan New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

Actually to be honest it's probably one of the 5 Saints plays I remember exactly where I was when they happened and most of them are bad:

1. Saints vs Eagles playoff game I leave for basketball practice with the Saints in control and cruising. Come back from practice and walk in the door as Hebert throws his 19th int in the 4th quarter to hand the Eagles the game. Yippee.

2. Bobby Hebert throws a TD pass and pretends he's an airplane/falcon flying around the superdome and I nearly break my hand on my mothers wall about 2.5 seconds later. Needless to say it was very hard NOT running to and jumping over the table and punching Bobby when I saw him broadcasting in front of the Superdome this year.

3. HAKIM DROPS THE BALL!!!! The day after my wedding and we are snowed in, in a North Jersey hotel watching the game when this happens.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6xtns7mTdhQ&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6xtns7mTdhQ&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I go tearing down the hotel hall way to my mom and dad's room and scream FINALLY!!! and run back to my wife and I's sweet to do some really stupid dancing.

4. The play referenced in the original post. I NEVER watch football with my friends. But we where playing poker that day and was watching with them when that happened. They where setting up the poker chips and what not as the lateral fest was going on and I was going crazy and they come running over to see Pathon jump in the endzone and they are cheering with me and then Carney screws it all up.

5. Saints vs Eagles again watching with my friends for probably the 3rd time in my life with Duece dominating and this happens <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7edOPtZze1w&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7edOPtZze1w&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

needless to say my friends have not been allowed to watched the Saints with me again.

Dishonorable mention: Saints vs Rams. I just got threw putting together my new entertainment center with my dad so we sit down to watch this game. Everything going decent and the Saints are driving late when Ernie Conwell catches a pass and is LAYING ON THE GROUND WITH TWO RAMS LAYING ON HIM. When one runs by grabs the ball out of his hands and races to the endzone. No big deal the refs will know he was down right? Nope. Go to replay right? Nope the play started at 2:01 left in the 4th and we have no challenges! I drop about 35 f-bombs in 20 seconds nearly break my hand on said entertainment center and storm up stairs to take a shower. Good times.
