Kudos for the mama. One less inmate our tax dollars have to pay for. BTW what are Louisiana laws towards intruders?

To safe yourself some time and a boatload of money, just make sure the intruder is in possession of a weapon, preferably one that is not registered under your name, before the po po get there. Also, "dot your i's and cross your t's" on the story of events that led up to you ridding the world of this piece of work.

Wow. My niece lives in Blanchard. Completely justified, IMO, but I give her kudos for thinking clearly enough to be on the phone with a dispatcher up to the shooting.

A friend of mine once shot an intruder inside her home, but he managed to stumble outside the home before falling to the ground. He died in her front yard. Even though the evidence strongly suggested that he was several feet within the home when shot, she was still convicted of manslaughter because he wasn't in the house when police arrived.

McKinley has said it took authorities 21 minutes to reach her after Justin Shane Martin began pounding on her door on New Year's Eve.

A 911 call released to The Oklahoman by Grady County shows that the alleged accomplice in the home invasion, Dustin Louis Stewart, drove panicked through a pasture near McKinley's home minutes after the confrontation and told the dispatcher he was “scared to death” and “I think it was my friend that got shot.”

McKinley was at home with her 3-month old boy at the time Martin forced his way into her home. Two minutes before officers arrived, she shot and killed Martin with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Thompson happened to be at the department feeding a cat when the call came in. He grabbed a shotgun and headed to McKinley's home in a patrol car. When he arrived eight minutes later, he entered through the back door and saw a stunned McKinley standing in her kitchen, still gripping the weapon she used to kill Martin, 24. A sheriff's deputy arrived about the same time, Thompson said. “She seemed very excited, a little confused,” Thompson said. “I think it was just a very traumatic moment for her. I think she was probably in shock. The child was in her bedroom on the bed where she had placed him with the bottle,” Thompson continued. “She told us he had been crying but she gave him the bottle to quiet him.”

McKinley was afraid Martin wasn't dead, Thompson said. He confirmed that he was.

The Stewarts operate a farm of 12 dairy cows in Blanchard. Area churches have been lending prayers and support to his family . . . Blanchard Det. Dan Huff said the Stewarts are known as a good family and are longtime property owners in the city of about 7,600. Dustin Stewart worked on his parents' dairy farm, Huff said.

We just had a similar case here in Columbus Ga. Intruder trying to break in through the front door while homeowner is asleep. Homeowner awoke and went to investigate and found the intruder with his arm through a broken window next to the front door. At that time the victim fired one shot striking the suspect in the testicles. The suspect crawled over to a fence curled up and tried to die. However my fellow officers located him and he is "recovering" in the hospital. No charges with be filed against the homeowner. I love the Castle law here in Ga.
