(YouTube) Mark Ingram's preseason (2 Viewers)

while he has improved slightly and looks a little slimmer he's not a very good RB

takes too many steps to get where he needs to go which is usually the back of an OL.

even on wide open holes he gets 20 yds against the texans. if we had a faster guy in there like he takes that to the house or at least threatens to.

too many wasted steps and not enough power....lacks vision.

sean payton hopefully learned from getting rid of bush that you shouldn't be married to a high draft pick if he can't produce in your offense when given limited opportunities.

I thought he looked ok actually, but it was laughable that the one big run he had ended when he ran into his own blocker. 20+ yards down field, all kinds of room and he gets taken down by his own man.

Thank you for the video OP!! You guys who do these videos have no idea how awesome it is for people like me who dont have the technology to do this. So thanks again. Ingram will be fine :9:

I thought that 80% of the runs shown in the video were less impressive than a lot of Robinson's runs against the Dolphins.. with that being said though.. Robinson hasn't played against 1st stringers.

One thing I've noticed is more outside runs. Ingram has more runs off tackle in 4 preseason games than all of last season combined. :hihi:

Same video for Robinson should help out when. Comparing the two. Screens were beautiffuly executed, and his outside runs helped his ypc. Hopefully those 1-yard inside runs will diminish this year.

Robinson won't get the love he deserves. Why? Because of the fact that his production didn't come against the 1's.

Actually, talking about those screen plays, that is a clear sign SP is back. The days of defenses getting 8 in the box when Ingram comes in a 12 personnel are numbered....or the days of Ingram getting 60+ yards receiving have arrived.

He average more ypc and had a longer run from scrimmage against the Dolphins than Robinson did. :idunno:

Good to hear you say something good about Ingram!

When I saw the run the first time I thought how did he just run into that guy? Then as I rewatch it I see the safety has a nice angle on him from the one side and he sets the corner up for a nice block by Toon but Toon gets tripped and his feet trip up Ingram. I think if Toon hadnt got tripped by the corner, it was still a nice block by the way, Ingram would have scored.

There were some plays there with bad vision. Good rule of thumb for this offense: if you're a rb, follow Collins and you'll average ypc will go up!

Lol, why do people hate this guy so muh? The fumble was a bonehead move, and he knew it, but not much to complain about other than that. The only negative plays I saw were when we had our backup OL in.

For me, the negative plays didn't bother me. On one, he get's blown up in the backfield, what could he do. And the leaping play didn't bother me that bad because he typically doesn't have a fumbling issue.

What did bother me was his inability to maximize gains on plays that were well blocked because he didn't follow his lead blocker or recognize cutback lanes. It's like he's running into contact to prove he's physical or something. PT gets double the yardage on those plays easily because he makes quicker cuts, follows his blocks and makes people miss.

I don't think Ingram is a bad back, he just doesn't play to his draft position and that isn't his fault. He didn't asked to be traded up for.

I understand the rational frustrations in that. His development has been slow. To give him the benefit of the doubt, we don't have the best run blockers, he's been fighting injuries the past two years, SP admitted to holding him back in his first year, last years play calling was hogwash, and his experience is limited due to our 3 back system.

I have been just as annoyed as everyone, but I really expect him to turn the corner this year. PT and Sproles aren't getting any younger. Ingram is poised to be the future.
