(YouTube) Mark Ingram's preseason (1 Viewer)

PT is the best back in the "eye test" and by ypc. He has had injury issues in the past and that is why he isnt and every down back for the Saints. Plus thats not SP's system. Every player outside of oline and Brees is situational.

I want Ingram to succeed, but even if he averages 6 ypc he will be used in a rotation. Its the reality of our offensive system.

he drives me NUTS when he stutter steps before he hits the hole!!!

He isn't fluid when changing direction and he doesn't have the ability to cut on a dime. His "stutter stepping" behind the LOS isn't really a stutter step, it's him slowing down his momentum to change direction. It's build into his style and you're just going to have to live with it. I have no problem with it because it helps him attack his secondary options(hole) relatively quickly.

Ingram has always been relatively patient when he's behind the LOS even back in his days in college. He had to deal with an adjustment period coming from such a dominant run blocking line but he looks better than he ever did since he's been here. I liked what I saw and if he can continue doing what he did in preseason, I expect a nice year from him.

Idk why people are hating on you for that statement because that's exactly what he needs to do. His vision is just not there right now. Watching those highlights showed me that while he does make some good runs, he makes just as many where he completely misses the hole or takes way too long to get there because of his stutter-stepping. He needs to learn how to see the hole and just GO, not hesitate.

And I hate how people on here think that if someone criticizes Mark Ingram that automatically means we want him to fail. I want him to succeed because that would help our team. I don't think he will be a very good RB because he doesn't have good vision but that doesn't mean I want him to fail just so I can say I was right.
EXACTLY,,how i feel ^.

Dude, it's because of guys like you that make the last part true! You never post any facts like the other guys do where a real argument can be made.

Why don't you go look at my post earlier breaking down a whole play and inspiring someone to talk with me.

NOT ONE OF YOU HAVE.

You guys say you want so bad for someone to show you his spark but you're all too afraid to look.

You just love bashing Saints players regardless of them having a specific role of the team.

Mike Bell was the 3rd down bruiser back that closed games and got the tough yards when we called on him. Mike Bell had a 3.8 YPC average during the 2009 superbowl season. He did his job just as it was asked and everyone loved him for it. Ingram comes in and filled the same role last year and Was and is still being flamed for it.

Reggie was an offensive weapon that did a little bit of everything and contributed heavily to the Superbowl season despite not having staggering numbers.

You were the main instigator of the Reggie vs. Pierre and Ivory vs. Everybody debates. You do not get a word the man said, get real.

You guys talk like Pierre is all world...if PT was as good as people on here believe he is we would of never went to the rotating of the backs and he wouldnt consistently take a backseat to Ingram...Ingram is bad in peoples eyes yet the coaches still give him the opportunity ahead of PT.....this is not a knock against PT or an endorsement for Ingram...the bias is just unbearable sometimes.
Did you really jus say that,, PT is 10times better than Ingram the reason why he doesnt get much carries is becuase he soo valuble the coaches feel the need to save him for the playoffs, scared he might get injured in reg season, which i dnt agree with. You ingramites crack me up!

I think we all let emotions get the best of us at times.

It's a fun debate. It's part of what being a fan is all about.

Keep it light. Try not to take it personally.

Great advice. Someone can't even compliment a RB or offer constructive criticism without being accused of "hating" one of our other RB's. Last time I checked, all our RB's are Saints, and I hope all of us are pulling for all of them. We should never let a bad game or good game affect how we "feel" about a player, because stuff happens. You have to look at the big picture, and the best way to do that is with career stats.

Ingram gets flack for a few reasons...

He went to Alabama. Some people don't like him because of the college he played for. This is the dumbest of reasons to not like Ingram.

He "ended" the Bush era. Some people don't like him because after the Saints drafted Ingram, Bush wanted out. Bush was a fan favorite so no surprise some people are miffed about that.

He was overdrafted. Ingram is a talented player, but so far has not come close to equalling what the Saints gave up for him. When the Saints traded back into the first round to grab a player, people expected an impact player... not a short yardage back.

Mike Bell didn't get that kind of flack because he was a FA signed to specifically be a short yardage guy. There was no hype around him, everyone knew he was being brought in for one thing and that was to lower his head and grab 3 yards when the Saints need 2.

Excellent video mate. Thanks for spending the time putting this together.

Ingram definitely looks to have a better burst this year.

I don't know why you thought I took anything personally, we're not even talking about me :9:

But don't try to patronize me like I need to cool it over some little joke. Every Ingram thread since 2011 has been littered with BUST, 2 yard Mark, and lacking in every skill needed to be an NFL back.

You may have not been around for all those threads, but you know what I'm talking about. And no one has ever flamed someone for just liking a RB over another. Khiry has gotten 100% praise on SR since he's been with the team. However it seems that the large number of Chris Ivory supporters were and (not-suprisingly) still are against Ingram. Going as far as faking stats, to calling for him to be cut, traded, benched, or all of the above. You know this is true.

So who's really getting personal here? You say that compliments and constructive criticism get met with hate, but all I've done is post compliments to Mark's game since he's gotten his #'s way up and essentially looked the way we've all been wishing for him too. But you know the guys that have made one RB in particular catch all the ****.

But yet the guy who is telling you that the SAINT who is NOT a bust, WON'T be traded, and played WELL in preseason, while still loving our depth at RB gets to receive the "great advice" of chilling out and letting the unsubstantial remarks continue that you even say should be replaced with posts of support for a Saint who will be featured on the big stage in less than a week.

peoples biggest gripe is that a short yardage back gained .1 ypc less than 4

now people are going to complain that 3 and 4 yard runs should go for more because he didnt cut back in a hole that you guys get to see from a booth view and replay it over and over

we are relatively new to the zone stretch play but from the looks of it, most of the time its working. ingram saw a few cutback lanes but if a play is designed as a stretch....its supposed to go outside and thats where he should be looking

the beauty of zone blocking is that sometimes defenses will overcompensate on the outside and cut back lanes will open up between the center and guards. this is something that all of our backs can continue to work on

...but after watching that video....how are there any complaints?

while he has improved slightly and looks a little slimmer he's not a very good RB

takes too many steps to get where he needs to go which is usually the back of an OL.

even on wide open holes he gets 20 yds against the texans. if we had a faster guy in there like he takes that to the house or at least threatens to.

too many wasted steps and not enough power....lacks vision.

sean payton hopefully learned from getting rid of bush that you shouldn't be married to a high draft pick if he can't produce in your offense when given limited opportunities.

All the Bama boys can down thumb you all they choose these highlights prove EVERY REASON why this guy is a Avg running back.. Avg Speed... lacks vision .. takes to many steps to make the play happen. (Thomas Robinson Sproles Cadet ) Ingram only when you have to.

You don't carry 5 backs just because. It is time to just be honest about the guy, in our system he does not fit period.
