N/S Cutler trade to Bears (mega merge)

Even the #1 offense in the league couldn't win with Bullocks starting at safety, Cutler wont change that, they will soon learn.

Denver could now either stay put at 12 and draft Sanchez if he's there or use the two first rounders on defense and worry about QB later if they think that Orton is just a stop gap (which is what he likely is).

They could take Freeman with the Bears pick later in the 1st.

That makes him starting caliber how? Orton isn't even in the same universe as Cutler.

In 2005 (the year you are citing) he passed for 1800 yards, completed a horrible 51% of his passes, threw 9 TD's and 13 INT's, with a rating of 59.

I never said he was in the same league as Cutler.

I think Cutler is an upgrade at QB for the Bears, but I think they gave up way too much to get him. I think other teams could have used Cutler more, and were less likely to get ripped off.

W's matter more than anything else in the NFL. Why don't you cite Cutler's godly stats from this past year, then tell me their record.

The trade may help the Bears get to the playoffs in a weak division. However, this move won't put them over-the-top. I think it is a TERRIBLE trade for the Bears. Two first rounders? And a third? You have quarterback issues, true. But you have issues at WR, DE, and OT. You got to the Superbowl with Rex Grossman, a great defense and strong running game. Why not trade for Derrick Anderson, take a DE like Everette Brown in the first and Brian Robiskie in the second? Robiskie would help you immediately though he's not a gamebreaker. But you have a gamebreaker in Hester. Brown gives you a solid pass rusher off the edge. And Anderson is a guy who might not be a franchise QB, but he's competent enough to lead your ball club to the playoffs. Um um um. Cutler is SO OVERRATED!!!!!!

GO BRONCOS!!! :cheer:

Are you seriously trying to say that Cutler is why they didn't win? Their defense was worse then ours. Does that mean Brees isn't good? Silly logic.

It's not and a 3rd. They got a 3rd in return with Cutler.

Did anyone really think a franchise QB of Cutlers age was getting moved for anything less then 2 1sts?

That is a lot to give up for Cutler. Wonder how his diabetes will affect him throughout his career and how long he will be a starter. Makes the Bears pretty tough, but in Chicago in late November and December, it gets really cold and windy. We'll see how well he performs then.

Have you ever been to Denver?

I think he'll be just fine.

Yep since there isnt 21 other players that play also right? why is it that qbs are ranked due to how many wins or losses the TEAM had? the guard or tackle is just as important to a team as a qb. Cutler is 20 times better than orton ever will be.

I was screaming in my car as I was driving home and people were looking at me like I was crazy. No need for you guys to comment on that BTW.

I AM A HAPPY MAN TONIGHT TIME FOR SOME WHISKEY

Does this make Denver more or less likely to draft defense before the SAINTS?

It depends on what's available...with 4 first round picks in the next two years, they can afford to let a guy sit. If Sanchez is there, I think he's the pick. If not, they could easily draft a tackle there. But they could just as easily go defensive end if a guy like Maybin is there. Who knows really. Our best hope is for Raji to slip to the Packers and Sanchez to the Broncos. That would pretty much clear the path for Jenkins to 14 (at least in my opinion).

You should be. The people here aren't thinking clearly and most don't like Cutler as a person anyway.

2 1sts and a backup caliber player for a great franchise guy that'll lead you for the next 10 years at least?

The Bears were probably going to spend a 1st on a QB anyway this draft. Obviously they aren't happy with Orton. So for an extra 1st they get a proven guy who's really good instead of a rookie with the 18th pick alone.

No, he is not the only reason.

Indy's defense was 31st but Peyton still got them to the Superbowl.

No, it doesn't mean Brees isn't good. It does mean he isn't great.

But those are only collateral points.

The main point of my OP was that the Bears overpaid for Cutler, and a lot of people seem to agree with me.
