Before the tweet, what has he done that makes him a bad person? Some people let their emotions get to them. It’s hard to let someone bash you and not retaliate. He’s still a human being. I have heard nothing but good things about him before this. After all, he was on a team that is struggling.

The Browns Safety that was released for threatening a fan over the internet set a precedent that teams won't accept that type of behavior, he deserves to be released just for the lack of awareness on the situation. Players are responsible for what they post on social media.

I agree but all depends on content. But people will take it however they feel. Threatening a fan is one thing but saying a word that people decided within the past 2 years as "offensive" isn't a good reason to be released from their job. Just my opinion, of course.

On June 1, 2009, Jenkins was arrested near a bar by Gainesville Police for fighting and resisting arrest after punching a man in the head around 2:00 a.m. Police were forced to use a taser on Jenkins after fighting escalated. When asked why the fight started, Jenkins told police it was because he thought someone was going to steal the gold chain around his neck.[59]

On April 23, 2011, Jenkins was cited by a Gainesville police officer and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession. He was cited for the same violation in January 2011, and paid a $316 fine. He was arrested in May 2009 during a downtown Gainesville fight that resulted in probation and community service. On April 26, 2011, he was dismissed by the Florida Gators football team, due to his second drug related arrest in three months.[60]

On June 26, 2018, a dead body was found in the basement of Jenkins' New Jersey home, identified as a family friend who had been living at the house. Jenkins' brother was identified as a person of interest.[61][62]

ETA: Granted, it appeared that he'd learned his lesson after getting the boot from Florida, but the dead body thing with his brother being the prime suspect recently and then going off on fans shows serious maturity issues. And for someone who's been in the league as long as he has, you'd think he'd have grown up by now.

I’m not trying to be a passive person in regards to this, but the Saints have a way less talented DB on the roster that has been in trouble recently. In fact, they have 3 or 4 players that have had trouble with the law. Granderson, Onyemata, and PJ to name a few. CGJ has had some issues as well. It’s one of those things where people can change given the right environment. I like to think the Saints have the organization that can help these players right the ship.

Once the waiver period starts each year through the trading deadline, a vested veteran — a player who has acquired four years of pension credit — is not subject to the waiver system if the club decides to release him. That means if a team decides to release a vested veteran, the league considers his contract to be terminated immediately and he is free to negotiate and sign with any other club. From the trading deadline through the end of the regular season, vested veterans are subject to the waiver process.
