So teams at the top can’t just grab whatever good players are released.
Another way to ensure parity.
Don't they already do enough to ensure parity all year long? The only teams that NEED players at this time of the year are teams with playoff shots. The bad teams get the high draft picks and first dibs on waivers all year long to make themselves better. Playoff teams get punished for being good and have to limp into the playoffs with injuries because they don't have a chance to sign a player who gets released this late in the year just so bad teams can be less bad.To keep it fair for the worse teams.
Jenkins is injured right now too and it's doubtful he'd make it to the 9ers on waivers.Let's just hope he doesn't end up on a team like, say, you know ... the Niners.
Sherman is going to be out for several weeks.
Huge difference. The Browns Safety that was released for threatening a fan over the internet set a precedent that teams won't accept that type of behavior, he deserves to be released just for the lack of awareness on the situation. Players are responsible for what they post on social media.
The offenses varied in degrees of severity, but the principal point is that they both represented their organizations in a negative light by having inappropriate interactions with Fans over social media. In Jenkin's case he showed stubbornness, and ignorance in the matter by not acknowledging his mistake, and remains unapologetic.

Oh, absolutely. Jenkins has been a really good corner for years though. Teams would have to be really upset about this twitter thing to pass him up on waivers and there are too many teams with no true #1 corner for him to make it far in the waiver order, IMO. But, yeah, it sure would suck for him to make it to the 49ers. I'd hope we would sign him if he made it to us just to keep the teams ranked higher than us from getting him.But you and I both know those "injuries" tend to heal a lot quicker if he's on a contender.
I get the joke. It’s a good one.He called somebody a retard and then refused to apologize for it. I guess he could run for President if the football thing is over ?
