We are going into a rebuild one way or another. Trade Lattimore in the off-season. (1 Viewer)

Marshon Lattimore 2020 coverage stats via PFF:
-10 catches on 12 targets for 155 yards (83% catch rate and 15.5 YPC allowed)
-Allowed a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeted, by far worst in the league
-T-Most DPIs (3) among CBs
-2nd-most penalty yards given up, with 57

So he's been targeted 4 times a game and is giving up about 50 yards per game. Geez so terrible how will we ever recover from this?

I know Aaron Glenn was a very good CB in his day, but is he a very good coach? I find it odd that we can bring in two CB's Eli Apple & Janoris Jenkins who came mid-season and probably relied more on their natural skill since they didn't know the defense that well yet and played really well. Then the very next seasons after being coached by DA and Glenn somehow get worse! Same with Malcom Jenkins. The past few years with the Eagles he's been pro-bowl level, comes back to N.O. and is getting burnt in coverage. Same with Lattimore. Rookie season probably leaned more on his natural abilities his rookie season, then after that year it's been getting worse and worse every season. Seems to be an issue with Coaching, Scheme, or both. If you bring in Pro-Bowl level talent and they start playing like crap sounds like it's time to make so changes to the Coaching and Schemes.

Lattimore is getting elite money. His agent won't take home discount, because secondary corners are prized free agents. Lattimore is just too inconsistent to be paid top 3 at his position. He will get paid. He doesn't have the killer instinct unless he plays against a Mike Evans every week. You don't pay top dollar for that.

You know why we pay Michael Thomas? He brings it every game.

You know why we pay Alvin Kamara? Because he brings it every game.

You don't pay top 5 money for a player that isn't motivated to play every week.

Get picks. Draft a QB. Draft Lattimore replacement.

If Lattimore takes a top 10 deal. That would be fair, but highly unlikely.
Are you trading him for your all time crush AJ Green? šŸ˜Ž

We talking top money as in CFL or AFL money, because players that play like dookie donā€™t get max contracts.
Sheeesh! Thatā€™s awful! I know he looked bad lately but my goodness, I had no idea it was that bad. That isnā€™t having an off start, thatā€™s as if youā€™ve given up and donā€™t give a squat

And this is why I hate losing. Itā€™s when we get these reactionary posts on a player we were just praising a week ago for his elite shut down performance.
I hate when we lose b/c it makes it harder to get to the post-season, and I've been wanting another Super Bowl victory badly ever since '09. Seems like it just keeps slipping away.

The market keeps rising.

Winston is here to get his mind right and learn from Brees and Payton. I don't know if he'll see the field at all unless he needs too, maybe later in the season when he shows he has full grasp of the playbook we might see some wrinkles like we did with Teddy. Of course if those wrinkles go badly then people will be wondering why Brees or Taysom weren't in the game instead.
How do you know Winston doesn't have a "full grasp" of the playbook? I find that is always attributed to black players, as if they are stupid or something.

His context is referring to this season in this current moment.

Winston didn't get a full offseason, OTA, Player orchestrad practices, Pre-season, joint practice, and a shorten training camp. So, it's a pretty safe assumption that you don't want to force him in the line up right now.

Yes but "grasp of the playbook" implies it's an intelligence issue. It was said about Teddy, even with full off seasons. I'm willing to bet it's more of terminology thing than an actual "grasp" .

I saw someone say "Trade that bum" when Peat was literally being carted off.

It's mindless, reactionary fan talk. Lattimore needs to play better. That's clear. But I mean...what's the plan? Get rid of Lattimore and then what?

Let him make all the mistakes and learn his trade at our expense, then trade him for a 2nd and 5th.

Really, he's still young. If he can maintain his speed and conditioning, he has some great games ahead of him. If, if.

Ehhhh... I do think you're reading too much into it. A lot of free agents come into this offense and struggle for the 1st year. Teddy 1st and 1st few starts was pretty underwhelming as well. He didn't get going till Tampa. Then, you have Payton being slow to use player efficiently and consistently. Can't just insert Winston and use him like Brees. Winston playbook is going to be different.

It's all not a wrong assessment. The offense is a lot of moving parts and no matter what really happens. He is probably going to struggle his 1st couple of game.

He is comment does come off as very tact and worded quite in a way that he does seem to talk down to Winston. Making assumptions that he isn't gearing hinself up to play at a moments notice. The playbook would shrink, but it would with any QB not Brees. Winston or Taysom are probably nowhere close to ready unless to fill in spot duty just yet.

I really do not want to set Winston up to fail. He has done everything right so far at being a better teammate/person, focusing on his fitness, and evolving his game during the middle of a pandemic. So, anyone trying to discredit that is just delusional and bitter.

I really hope what he does pays off. I do see the salary cap monster coming to collect the bill and just making it super difficult to pay him anything more than 15 million a year next season.

As far as I'm concerned. If Lattimore turns it around. All it does is boost his trade value.
