New Orleans got a lot of production from their running back room in 2020, mainly fueled by Alvin Kamara.

This.Is the offensive line really exceptionally good or did Brees just help make them look that way?
Winston got sacked twice in the half of football that he played against the 49ers. And he only made 10 pass attempts. It's a small sample size, but it's a rate greater than Taysom got sacked and speaks on the true quality of the offensive line.
The OL was ranked #2 in both 2019 and 2020. #2 Overall and it showed when Brees was out with injuries both of those years. Is the offensive line really exceptionally good or did Brees just help make them look that way?
Brees typically read defenses well pre-snap and got the ball out fast. That helped reduce the number of sacks that he took. The "time to throw" [stat] that the Saints OL gave Brees this past season was very middle of the pack. The OL was ranked #2 in both 2019 and 2020. #2 Overall and it showed when Brees was out with injuries both of those years.
I'm not directing this at you @BoxerJoe but this seems to be a theme where fans denigrate our OL and WR's to bolster Brees. Brees doesn't need that. His numbers speak for themselves. Brees was incredibly accurate but I only recall him catching 1-2 of his own passes. It just makes me wonder because a previous poster claimed our OL was simply not good. I think #2 overall is pretty damn good and it's a testament to our front office and coaches for making it consistently one of the top units. Brees doesn't run block.
Still doesn't justify anyone saying that the OL was not good. They were ranked the 2nd best unit in the league for two years in a row. That ranking isn't based on pass protection alone. It's just easy to throw that out there to somehow try to make Brees look better when it's not necessary. It's not necessary to find fault with other aspects of the team to elevate Brees yet many fans do it.Brees typically read defenses well pre-snap and got the ball out fast. This discussion evolved from the number of sacks that Taysom and Jameis took. They took sacks at rates significantly greater than Brees took. It's a simple stat comparison. There is no reaching or maliciously trying to make other parts of the team look bad. An offensive line is going to appear better when the QB reads the defense well, makes adjustments, and gets the ball out quickly, That isn't really up for debate.Still doesn't justify anyone saying that the OL was not good. If Taysom was immobile it wouldnt be shocking for him to be sacked so often. He started 4 games but one of those against Denver was mainly handing off the ball. But too many times he kept on holding the ball rather than making a pass, getting rid of the ball or running it.This discussion evolved from the number of sacks that Taysom and Jameis took.
