Nah, we passed on Bailey Zappe this year. That kid is basically a Pennington clone. Smart as hell, accurate, wiffle ball bat for an arm.Too bad he can't be a least like a Chad Pennington

I don’t even want him on the practise squad. He’s awful and has shown zero growth since we drafted him. He’s had enough time and had enough chances. I never want to see him on the field as a Saints QB, even in preseason let alone a competitive game. If worst comes to worst and we were down to our 3rd string QB then I’d take anyone over him. I know it’s only preseason and the win/loss doesn’t matter but he’s gonna get people injured with his crazy inaccurate passes and I still want to notch up at least one win before the regular season starts. It’s impossible to judge any of our other offensive players with Ian Book as our QB. We can’t fully judge the O-Line when he just stands there like a statue and we can’t judge our receivers etc with his erratic throws.Based on the camp reports today, he's headed for the PS.
I get that but we rarely give up on a guy we draft (unless he's beaten out by another guy). Putting on PS means he's not on the active roster and from what I can tell the guy from Miss. St. is not even getting reps yet.I don’t even want him on the practise squad. He’s awful and has shown zero growth since we drafted him. He’s had enough time and had enough chances. Your point being? Am I wrong in anything I’ve said about him? He’s not good enough and never will be.He was drafted last year.
Somehow I think one of those 2 if not both will bite us.I wasn't ready to move on from Book (yet), as I felt he was an equal prospect, but already on the roster and requiring no further assets to acquire.
But IF the Saints brass felt that a QB was a worthwhile investment in this draft, I wanted it to be Matt Corral or Desmond Ridder. Those 2 were the only QBs who seemed to elevate their team, and have "it" factors. And now they're with the Panthers and Falcons. Jesus....I hope that doesn't bite us in the arse for the next 10-15 years!
When it comes to Book he’s not getting beat by another guy he’s beating his self with his performance.I get that but we rarely give up on a guy we draft (unless he's beaten out by another guy). A chad Pennington wouldn't survive todays NFL. secondaries are so much better and quicker now.Nah, we passed on Bailey Zappe this year. That kid is basically a Pennington clone. Smart as hell, accurate, wiffle ball bat for an arm.
Yeah I was disappointed. I expected some improvement from one to two years. But I was left with disappointmentFinally watched the game. Man you guys weren't lying. Not a single iota of growth from this guy.
He throws with the low arm strength that Brees had in his last 2 years, but without the anticipation and accuracy. Brees was a master so no one expects that level, but damn.
When he does manage to make a read and get the ball out the receiver has to stand there waiting forever giving the defender time to close. Even on slants he throws TO the receiver instead of in front. There was almost no YAC because of poorly placed balls.
I am happy to keep him around on the PS and see if he can improve with another year under his belt, but he should be much further along, IMO.
Glad we got Dalton in case Winston cant go.
