BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THEY WERE LINING UP EVERY PLAY!!!
If he can’t recognize the blitz and doesn’t have the ability to force the defense to show their cards, then this isn’t going away. And Carolina didn’t play 8 on the line all game like that last play. Did they show it often? Yes but it wasn’t every play. Winston needs to do a better job of identifying the blitz and get the ball out quicker.

On that play he took a 5 step drop in the shotgun with blitzers coming off of both sides. He has to identify that and call a hot with Calloway.

I don't think some of yall understand what we're saying...or I might be in a weird purgatory where nothing makes sense or everything that I think makes sense, makes sense to no on else.

You ever see a play where the receivers are spread out wide, but the CB pre snap cheats in and shows blitz...the QB would then spot the CB and kill the play, then the CB would back of his blitz in kind.

Wanna know why this doesn't happen w/ us? Because your receivers are lined up here:

You don't know if that guy is covering or coming.
Isn't a hot read something the QB and WR do after they see a DB blitz? The WR runs a route straight to the area vacated by the blitzing DB and the QB gets the ball to him immediately.

He can't call a hot, because he cant tell for certain if the CBs are coming or not.

So when he saw the left defender go with the TE, he saw his RB slide in front of him for protection, he isn’t supposed to realize the heat is coming from the right? That’s as basic as it gets.

He’s just simply not adjusting fast enough, whether his head is cluttered, he’s hurt, he can’t do it, or whatever it is.

Showing blitz doesn’t mean the defenders are coming, which was his point.
Of course not but it’s was a possibility so the QB has to have the ability to know where the ball needs to go if they do decide to come and make adjustments before the ball is snapped. He ran the play that was called to a T and still managed to take a 5 step drop in the shotgun with a defender coming at him in the direction he was looking. That has to get better regardless of the QB back there.

Or...Maybe either of the Tackles could block anyone!!! Ram got beat on the right and Hurst was lined up against both a LB and CB. He tried to block the LB that dropped into coverage and the DB and a free run to the QB and block the pass to the hot receiver which resulted in the ball being picked at the LOS.

Therein lies the problem with these tight formations that the Saints run all too often, it makes it all too easy for the D to apply pressure to the QB when the OLine is struggling to block. They need to spread out the defense!!! They had EIGHT on the LOS and backed out ONE!!!

I'm more concerned about Winston's post snap reads and awareness. On at least one sack, he saw the blitzer coming and had time to at least throw the ball away, but he still took the sack.

I don't remember him being sacked from his blind side and it seemed like on most of them he had time to at least throw the ball away.
