NFL Draft Anthony Richardson could very well be in play if Saints land a late 1st for Payton. (3 Viewers)

However, you might have noticed the struggles all season for separation for any Gator receiver not named Pearsall. This can make a QB look inaccurate, and possibly like they aren't making the best decisions.
If he needs wide open WR's to be an efficient QB then the NFL isn't for him. Most passes in the NFL are timed passes to tightly covered receivers. Unless he lucks out and finds an OC that can scheme receivers open all the time then he's going to have throw to covered WR's. Like another poster said, he is very erratic with his throws. One pass can be an accurate laser 40 yards downfield and the next he can over throw the receiver 10 yards away. If he's still there in the 5th or 6th maybe, but definitely not worth a 1st-3rd pick.

I’ve heard Underhill and others speak to how Dennis Allen would like a mobile QB to lead his ball control offense (even though he went with Andy Dalton down the stretch!?!?). That’s why the Saints were prepared to go “all in” in for Watson.
QB is a massive need for the Saints, and things are looking like the Saints either get a late 1st rounder for Payton, or they get stuck sitting on him and their early 2nd rounder…

…In either case, they could find themselves staring at Anthony Richardson on the board when their pick comes up.

Richardson is an absolute freak when it comes to tools and ability! He’s big, strong, fast, has a cannon for an arm, and runs like a RB. He should only help himself in pre-draft workouts, because his upside is OFF THE CHARTS!

However, if you’ve seen him play in games, you know that he’s erratic and his accuracy is below average. He tends to hold the ball too long, and when he misses, he misses BADLY!

Still though… Scouts will drool over his tools… and with Jalen Hurts leading an offense that looks darn near unstoppable when he’s healthy… other teams will want that.. and Richardson has that ability in spades!

He’s got the highest ceiling of any QB in the draft class.
He also has a very high chance to BUST and be relegated to a poor man’s Taysom Hill role at best.

In the games I’ve seen where Richardson has flashed… he looks UNBELIEVABLE!

But when he struggles, he looks like he’s got no business playing QB.

With Dennis Allen as HC, fans don’t know what to expect… and I don’t even think DA knows what the plan is…!

But Richardson is out there… and someone will invest a higher pick than most think in his immense abilities.

Sorry, i just cant get behind a wildly inaccurate QB whose best trait is being an athlete. In my opinion, thee types are the guys who turn into WRs or TEs in the pros. To me, Anthony Richardson is 100% upside/potential. I dont think you draft this type of dude in the 1st.

Richardson is literally a big armed Taysom Hill. Or Tebow. Or a big Malik Willis. If we’re gonna draft a mobile high ceiling project player at QB, id much rather have guys target guys like Cam Ward(if he officially declares), Hendon Hooker, Jaren Hall or DTR.

Cam Ward & Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) in particular are just as mobile, are better passers, & have just as high a ceiling as Richardson, but could probably be had on Day 2-3. The more i watch Richardson, trying to convince myself he’s good, the more issues i see. Im just not a fan at all.

I think the sleeper QB of this draft could be Cam Ward. The dude is a modern day QB. He can run for chunks through a D & above all else, is a true QB w/an NFL arm. Again, not 100% sure he declared, but i think he’s a guy we could get really excited about.

Ward should stay at WSU another year. He is fun to watch and a dynamic, off-schedule playmaker, but he really struggles with anything more than the simplest of reads/progressions.

Full disclosure, I am a WSU alum and want the benefit of him playing in Pullman in 2023, but he really does need another year at the FCS levelz

And whom is going to coach this freaky-deaky QB into becoming some MVP-type?
We don't have anyone here.
We don't even have proper veteran leadership in that dept.
It's wasted talent.
DA wouldn't know what to do with that.
Petey is Lost in Space.
Winston is gone-gone.
Dalton - who knows.
Carr never even reached his potential so how can he help?
Drew is in Purdue.

So…should we just not try to get any good quarterbacks?

No let's not, for everyone of these QBs that work out, many fail. I don't like Athletes that happen to play QB. It's much better when a QB happens to be athletic.
But didn't you see all those exclamation marks and block capitals in the OP? Absolutely compelling stuff.

Obviously that's not what I'm saying.
This particular QB needs more coaching than usual. The Saints don't really have anyone that can get this particular QB to the level everyone expects him to be.
If they can't draft a QB that's a turn-key solution, then wait til next year. Sad news, but stagnation is breathing down the neck of this franchise.

How were the Bengals before they got Burrow?

And the Bills before Allen?

QB changes a lot. Even if it’s not with this staff, I’d love to get a high-ceiling player in the building to make the job attractive for the next staff.

How to throw away a 1st and ensure that you pick another QB in round 1 next year too

I'll save all of you some time, Richardson is going to plummet down the board ending up a day 3 pick. He's going to cry and say something like "Imma show 'em all" then he'll get a chance, then get benched for a guy picked up off the street to play QB....and then we're going to have to draft another QB in '24

I’d love to take on Richardson as a project, would make the season so much more enjoyable watching him develop.

His ceiling is Cam Newton athleticism with a Josh Allen arm.

Sadly I think by draft time he’ll go top 15 due to the reasons mentioned above.
Bruh all I’m saying is , the real cam newton is actually available, and who better to mentor the next than the previous ?

33 former MVP. I’d like to see Cam given the chance Geno Smith got to get back on track.

I hate Cam Newton the person/personality...wanna make me and 80% of the Saints fanbase stop watching football...bring in Scam
