This is one of the main reasons why they have a fire burning out of control. They probably don’t have anyone with experience to try and contain it.

Looks like reports on TG saying it was merely a "recon" type thing....

so looks like UAF "probing" entire border region ( as Belgorod reported skirmishes too )

As someone mentioned, UKR could just move laterally now that they have breached the defenses in the Kursk area. They would have the advantage.

Well it was curious that Belarus moved assets to the Ukrainian border region. So they either saw or anticipated something. ( Bryansk region is on Ukr, belarus, russian border )

The genius of their current offensive is that it won't require more troops to hold than they already allocated at the border.

Using the Seym gets them a better defensive position with the same troops who were already guarding the border. Might even free up some once defenses are set along the river.

Sure but they moved there for a reason and I'd bet they saw a bit of "movement and build up" closer to them and reacted.

Interesting timing is all.
