Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (3 Viewers)

Let's say just for argument's sake we trade a 3 for Adams. Chances that we find a player that moves the needle like Adams would are very slim. Let's see with the 3rd we get the 9th or 10th best OL or pass rusher in the draft. Or we can get Adams. Easy choice
I'll take the OL because our current OL is arse.

Points on the board definitely matter

Haener put up a measly 9 points in the entire preseason. Rattler? 37.

Both played with a similar quality of player.
RIDICULOUS it's JUST the QB that is responsible fo putting up points . Not even close. So the QB hands the ball to a RB and he scores , Yeah it's the QB that is responsible for the score SMH

Rattler has an elite arm that Haener does not have. That's what I mean by more upside. Haener has a fine arm but Rattler can make throws that Haener and most other QBs can't make. But that doesn't mean he is going to be a better QB.
Nah Disagree . JH can make ALL the throws needed. SR has a stronger arm and is a more of a threat to run. THAT'S it . And I;m guessing with our OL injuries that threat to run is why he's getting the start

He said “upside.”

Everything about Rattler presents more upside than Haener. Also, there’s no evidence of Haener being appreciably more accurate than Rattler.
You really have not watched Jake much. Watch him @ Fresno St

There are throws that Rattler can make that Haener can't. Haener can make all the on schedule throws, but Rattler has an arm that allows him to do some things off schedule and on the move that Haener just can't. That won't matter if Rattler can't throw from the pocket, read defenses, etc. But he appears to have very good pocket awareness and very good accuracy. And his ability to move in the pocket to buy time and his accuracy appear to be better than Haener's. Haener is a good prospect, but Rattler has the talent to possibly be elite. He might not get there, but the talent is there and he has more talent than Haener.

You just said our system wasn't dependent on the quality of the line.
Not in the fact that we need 1st or 2nd rd picks across the board , But you can;t have most of the starters and some of the backups out with injuries. OPL have to play together to have cohesion. I mean C'mon we're playing with a C that we just signed mid week

SR has more arm strength not more arm talent. Arm strength is not the say all do all of playing the position. Ask Brees

He has more arm talent than Haener and Carr. I was impressed by the pass that Carr made under pressure on Monday to Mason Tipton that was missed. Carr is no slouch but he doesn’t make a lot of wow throws.

Rattler has really good placement and anticipation that gives the receiver a chance on contested catches.

I also disagree that he can make all the throws needed.

I watched multiple out routes to the sideline where the balls by Haener were very late getting there, and were almost pick 6s because the db had enough time to read it, get in front of the reciever, and get both hands on the ball. Those throws were late because he simply doesn't have enough arm strength or zip to get the ball there fast enough. You might can get away with that at Fresno, but not in the NFL. The speed of the game and the players is at a different level.

Obviously, people have different sets of eyes and see things differently, but that's what mine were seeing.

Of course it's not. But if you have the pocket presence, ability to buy time in the pocket, take rushing yards when they are available, throw from the pocket, read defense, know the offense and defenses inside out, are a team leader, AND you have an elite arm then you can be great. It's not necessary but it's an ability that few other QBs have and would allow him to make some plays that others can't.

And what do you think is the difference between "arm talent" and "arm strength" and why do you think Haner is equal to or better than Rattler in arm talent?

I think Haener has a good enough arm, but he needs to be perfect with his timing or he can't hit throws like deep outs. So his margin of error is lower than a guy like Rattler that has an elite arm.

LOL Maybe you should re-visit our success in the 1st 2 rnds of the draft lately

2016: Michael Thomas - Record Shattering All Pro Wide Receiver, career derailed with freak ankle injury.
2017: Marcus Williams - Starting FS, Franchise Tagged, now Starting FS for Ravens.
2018: N/A
2019: Erik McCoy - Pro Bowl Center, signed to extension.
2020: N/A
2021: Pete Werner - Starting Saints Linebacker, signed to extension.
2022: Alontae Taylor - Starting Saints Cornerback still on Rookie contract, obvious candidate for extension, playing at very high level.
2023: Isaiah Foskey - Likely a bust.
2024: Kool-Aid McKinstry - Unknown.

So four out of five are/were legitimate starters, one of whom would be Hall of Fame bound had his ankle not been turned into diced cabbage. One pretty ugly looking bust so far and one unknown rookie who shows starting potential. Is that really a stance you want to take?
