Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (2 Viewers)

Yeah, we really aren't that far apart. I'm a little more optimistic they can make it work. Might well not work, but sometimes it's worth a shot. And I agree around a 3rd or 4th with the Raiders eating a good portion of this year's salary would be what it takes. Raiders won't like it, but their options are actually limited. Really only two for them, keep Adams and cut him after the season and get nothing, or trade him now and pay a portion of the salary to send him somewhere for a draft pick. There really aren't any other options that I'm aware of.

Loomis has plenty of leverage. There's no need to overpay for Adams. It's pretty simple, if he doesn't feel like the numbers make sense, he can walk away. We're not that desperate to get him imo. Adams would definitely help, but it's not gonna wreck our season any worse if it doesn't happen.

And there may be other options that come up, like Cooper being a possible target. There's still plenty of time to make something happen before the trade deadline. Heck, for all we know, we could trade a player away for some draft picks. Who knows?
The longer this drags on the less LV will get. Each wk it will cost LV almost a mill to have Adams on the roster. Plus it means that it's 1 less wk that the new team has Adams lowering his value to them. I see this happening the wk of the Den game, DC and Ruiz will be back for sure after that and maybe McCoy. It gives us 10+ days to get ready for the following game

The Raiders could have other options if they lower the draft pick requirements. There are 5 or so teams currently in the playoff hunt that have enough cap space open right now that they could take on his contract, even more if a couple of weeks pass and the Raiders pay a few more checks. Many of them also could instantly convert some of his salary to signing bonus and kick his salary to future years because of how much future cap room they have. He might really make a difference on some of those teams, enough to cough up a 3rd and take on some salary. We are not one of the teams that can do those things.
It's already been reported that LV wants to grant his wishes of which team he wants to go to

I don't think you understand how shallow this team is. Every draft pick we lose is the loss of a potential 3-5 year player, not the 10-11 games we'd get out of Adams. And every dollar we add to future caps is a dollar less than we can spend on free agent depth. We've played that game for a while now and the team we're seeing on the field right now is the result. There is no need to compound those issues for a 10-11 game rental on what is looking more and more like a lost season.
SMH there will be NO 10-11 game rental. That's NOT how ML operates. There WILL be a renegotiation of his contract no matter which team he goes to. Every draft pick is a CRAP SHOOT, Adams is NOT.

I see some complaining about not trading for Adams because of weakness and needs on the O-Line and the D-Line. Ok that may be true, but how are y'all expecting to fix that now? Have you looked at what's left of O-Linemen in free agency? There's nothing better than what we have already and some are even worse. Same with the D-Line. Also, what team is going to trade starting caliber O-Linemen or D-Linemen and weaken their team? The answer is NONE. So why not go after Adams? He's available and a playmaker, which this team needs in the worst way. Another weapon to help out on offense. And while we're at it bring in LB Devin White and see what he has left and what he can do for the defense.

You may be right. I’m just looking at the team in terms of health and depth. Even if we were to get fully healthy eventually, I don’t think we’re the team we saw in weeks 1 and 2. I’m also not kidding myself thinking that the injuries are going to suddenly stop. We’re losing guys every single week.
While we may not be a team that puts up 45 points every game. There is NO indication that had we stayed healthy on the OL and with TH that we would not have been WAY more productive than we were in the last 3 games . I mean C'mon Bud, even with all those injuries we STILL had the lead in 2 of them with 2 mins to go and if it were nit for 3 DB's running into each other and a DPI we would have won 2 of the last 3. . I'll also say that had we been healthy I liked our chances against KC

All reports said he'd be out 6-8 wks from surgery . He had the surgery on sept 25th . Nov 6 would be 6 wks. I going to optimistically say 5 wks which would be Oct 30 . I'm going to place my bet he's back for the Nov 3rd game and cross my fingers

Exactly. If there were an available player right now that could help us on either line, or even at Safety…. I’d bet there wouldn’t be a poster here asking for Adams over said non existent player. This isn’t about preference. This is about availability of a player that can make the team better. There’s only one available. That’s Adams.

I think many teams have superior quality depth than the Saints do at many positions. We are consistently filling out our roster 4-6 weeks after free agency starts taking on 3rd tier guys. I don't need day 1 guys, but how about a few more 2nd tier players as depth. Something more than league minimum vets and UDFAs? We started 3 league minimum guys on the line on Monday night in Saldiveri, Patrick and Young. Lemieux and McGovern are minimum guys as well. I don't believe for a minute those are the guys we wanted. Those are the guys we could afford because of our cap management strategy.

Yes, we haven't drafted well recently that is a problem. But it's compounded by our lack of ability to bring in serviceable players.
Our offensive system is not based on having great O linemen across the line, It's very much like SF's they have 1 very good OL in Williams and are serviceable for the rest. Their backups are JAG's Their starting C was a UDFA. Williams is the only 1st rd pick on their whole OL.
Our cap issues would be no issue if we had drafted better
OL depth is an across the league issue

I don't expect the Saints to have All Pros and Pro Bowlers as backups to All Pros and Pro Bowlers, but no one can deny this offense died when McCoy and Hill got injured. They couldn't overcome two players getting hurt. That to me is unacceptable and why while I don't like the idea of trading critical future assets for Adams, at the same time it is clear why it makes sense to want to get Adams.

However after the additional injuries Monday, I think it would be downright stupid for the Saints to go get Adams right now. They should wait until the trade deadline, see what the record is and get Adams for as cheap as possible if the Saints still have life. If the Jets with no Head Coach and no future at QB want to beat the Saints to the punch and trade their future assets for a soon to be 32 year old WR, they can go right ahead. If a team like the Vikings or Commanders feel Adams will put them over the top, it is what it is. If the Saints are 4-5 at the deadline, sure, I'd absolutely make a play for Adams even if it involves a 2nd. But if this skid continues and the Saints show up at the deadline with a 3-6 record? No way.

The Saints with Ireland have been phenomenal in the first two rounds of the draft. A 2nd round pick for the Saints is drastically more likely to be an 8 year starter than a bust. That's not something you just casually brush off for a WR who will be 32 before the season ends.
LOL Maybe you should re-visit our success in the 1st 2 rnds of the draft lately

The date is irrelevant. The man HIMSELF is telling you why.

You are more invested to your narrative than the truth. If Devante Adams himself telling you won't change your mind nothing will.

We just agree to disagree and that's it.
You didn't respond to my post where I cited sources and explained that both can be true at the same time. Adams is on record saying he went to the Raiders because he wanted to play with Carr. And he also stated his reasons in his interview you posted. They aren't contradictory.

I've said this before. There are some that view this team with tunnel vision, I prefer to look at them with a panoramic view. I'm glad the front office has the same view. They are turning over every stone to try to make this team better. I'm not saying that Adams is going to singlehandedly going to take us to the SB. But maybe he can make that one play in games that could get us more wins, regardless of our weak O-Line. Who knows with a little consistency on the O-Line, the QB might have time to make more plays to WR's downfield.

It does if you trade away the pick you would draft OL with. :idunno:
Let's say just for argument's sake we trade a 3 for Adams. Chances that we find a player that moves the needle like Adams would are very slim. Let's see with the 3rd we get the 9th or 10th best OL or pass rusher in the draft. Or we can get Adams. Easy choice
