It's not beyond reason that Taysom Hill will be considered to be inducted into the NFL HOF based on the many unique NFL Records he holds or shares.

Yes it is.

Hester is a 3x first team all pro
2x second team all pro
4x pro bowler

Taysom has zero accolades. That stuff matters.

He's a great player but he will never make the HOF.

Devin Hester was inducted into the NFL HOF. He was a One Trick Pony. An Excellent Return Specialist. An ordinary average position player as a WR only.

He doesn't hold or share 36 NFL Records (and counting) as Taysom Hill does.

The NFL Hall of Fame has broadened their scope of players deserving of induction. Devin Hester was just inducted into the NFL HOF in 2024.

It's not beyond reason that Taysom Hill will be considered to be inducted into the NFL HOF based on the many unique NFL Records he holds or shares.

I can't totally disagree with Hester's induction being a product of recent-year widening of the pool, so to speak. Kenny Easley is another recent example. I remembered his name from the '80s Seahawks watching football as a kid. I remembered him as a solid safety, but I was surely surprised his seven-year career was suddenly considered HOF-worthy.

Hill would have to ball out in a Super Bowl against the current-day Chiefs to elevate his stature to a HOF level.

Winning a super bowl would help. I doubt he will be able to achieve any significant statistical milestones. I'd estimate he will need 4-5 more season at a high level of play with 1500 all purpose yards, a few more passing yards and TD, some special teams touchdowns and some tackles on special teams.

He's never had a 1000 yard season in ANY category, not even passing.

Current Career numbers:
Receiving: 94 catches, 906 yards 11 TDs
Rushing: 432 attempts, 2477 yards, 33 TDs
Passing 64% 2369 Yards, 11 TDs.
Kick off returns 489 yards 0 TDs.

I agree with the assessment that it is incredibly difficult for a player with no base position to make the hall of fame.

There are TEs in the Hall of Fame with 5K receiving yards, and RB Gayle Sayers (Hall of Famer) has just shy of 5K rushing yards.

If he is going to have any chance, he needs to surpass those levels. Gayle Sayers and Earl Campbell both had right at 10,000 all-purpose yards.

There is no way that "1200+ special team snaps" is accurate. Maybe that is 120+?

Easley is 11th overall for DB's on PFR's Hall of Fame Monitor. His score is boosted by five pro bowls, three first team AP selections, and a DPOY award. Hill doesn't have those types of accolades on his resume.

Yes - his jersey and shoes from week 9 of the 2023 season when he became the only NFL player in history with at least 10 TDs in rushing, passing, and receiving.

He obviously hasn't been anywhere near HOF-level at any one position, but the aggregate of his accomplishments is so unique and substantial enough that I think he has a real chance, especially considering the precedence of inclusion for utility players. He is literally a 1 of 1 player in the annals of the league. He's already on display in the HOF. He just won NFC offensive player of the week as a non-QB at the age of 34. Broadcast teams have referred to him already as a HOF football player.

Don't be surprised if he eventually makes it.
