I think we are at least 6 draft pick "hits" away from having this team competitive again and that will likely take 3 years, "hitting" on two per year.

Lamar Jackson was there but oh noThey tried to but SP decided to tell the whole world he was in love with Mahomes.
We probably should have drafted Love though, when the clock was set to strike midnight.
Our linebackers. Um I don't like them davis gay werner nope don't like em.

We didn't need a QB. We had the next Steve Young in the building...One of the oddest moments in Saints draft history. Felt like a no-brainer when we traded up, even all the talking heads were going into discussions about how fun it was going to be watching Lamar under Sean Payton.
Anyone wishing for Loomis to get let go is just setting themselves up for disappointment. Let it go.
He is the NFL equivalent of a college professor with Tenure Privileges.
You don’t fire a 20+ year GM that easily. He deserves and has earned the opportunity to fix his mess.
That also works when you have a 1st ballot Hall of Fame QB who can elevate the play of 3rd, 4th, and 5th round talent at OL, WR, TE, and RB....to 1st and 2nd round talentLoomis really benefited by his ability to manipulate the cap before it was really noticeable. Unfortunately, that only works for so long and eventually you run out of road to kick the can. We weren’t complaining when we were a perennially playoff team but now his method of how he manages has overtaken its ability to work.
Really need to go after a young qbPayton has drafted a first round QB and developed him to currently the third favorite for offensive rookie of the year. It’s clearly been Mickey Loomis that tied his hands with selecting a QB. Loomis is all in on this FA QB/late round QB strategy. And he’s also all in on this salary cap strategy, so don’t hold your breath on “clearing the salary cap”.
The problem is Mickey Loomis and as long as he’s here, then it doesn’t matter. He needs to gets lucky and hit on an all time great QB that hides all the flaws of management.
